What Is "Remote Libraries" On the Squeezebox Radio?

Under Settings - Advanced - Networking there is an option for Remote Libraries. When you select you get teh option to add a new library, and t hen are prompted to enter in numbers 000.000.000.000. WHat exactly is this function for, is this for connecting to your Squeezebox Server if you are out of network?

The reason I ask, I brought my Squeezebox Radio to work. I connect to the network here, have no problems connecting to mysqueezebox and accessing all my apps/internet radio. I would also like the ability to connect to my squeezebox server at home so I can access my local content (on my WHS). I was hoping this Remote Libraries function was to do this, but cannot figure it out. Thanks

Re: What Is "Remote Libraries" On the Squeezebox Radio?

Hi dbone1206 and Welcome to the Logitech Forums,

Remote Libraries is intended for adding libraries to the Squeezebox Duet, that it cannot otherwise find through the My Music options. A lot of customers will download unofficial builds of Squeezebox Server for their various Network Attached Storage drives, or will setup their network with Multiple Subnets, which makes it difficult for the Squeezebox Software to locate the Squeeebox Server installation accross the network. This function allows you to enter the IP of a Squeezebox Server, and if possible the Squeezebox will connect to it accross the network.

Theoretically, it could be used to connect to a Squeezebox Server over the Internet, if the ports are correctly forwarded, but I regret I cannot assist you with doing this.

Re: What Is "Remote Libraries" On the Squeezebox Radio?

Could you list the ports that would need to be forwarded?

Thanks!

Re: What Is "Remote Libraries" On the Squeezebox Radio?

It should just be whatever port you have the squeezebox server using (I think the default is 9000)

Re: What Is "Remote Libraries" On the Squeezebox Radio?

It appears two ports are involved: 9000, and 3483 per http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13960/~/manually-configuring-built-in-co...

I'm in the same boat and would like to use squeezebox radio at work to access server at home.  I opened the ports and hope to be in a position to test soon.

Re: What Is "Remote Libraries" On the Squeezebox Radio?

I haven't figured out what IP address to use. I was thinking it would be my IP address that the server is on + port (i.e. 192.xxx.x.xxx:9000) but you can not enter it in that way on the Radio. I thik the Radio format is XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
