Love my squeezebox touches. I have a fantastic valve based Dac that gives them a real hifi quality (I previously only listened to vinyl as CDs never cut it quality wise. My touches are currently supported by Synology diskstation 211j bought specifically for the purpose. All files are FLAC so there is a bit of processing required. The 211j cannot handle the Squeezecenter 7.5.3 software, it seems to not have enough grunt. It stops playing, does lots of buffering, and takes an age to load up lists of albums etc. I need some expert advice as I think I need to replace this with a NAS with more memory and processing power. Unfortunatley this means the 211j which is one month old has to go to eBay. Am I right about the NAS? If so how do I make sure I am getting the right answer. I want a future proof purchase, not one that will need replacing in 12 months. The netgear nasready ultra 2 looks like it may be the job, the 4 might be better but I notice it has a slower processor! Give me some advice, what is the best NAS to have. Thanks

The VortexBox appliance works really well. It has SqueezeBox server 7.5.3 pre-installed. VortexBox has an ATOM processor so the SqueezeBox Server GUI is always really fast.

i got my squeeze box yesterday and i am impressed. I am building a vortexbox for it. I am using the same mainboard as vortexbox hoping that i will use about 25W. The wake on lan feature will be great so i can be on 24\7

I hear good things about ReadyNas units (but get one of the upper end models with x86 chip). I have a readynas duo (old version) which was basically worthless as a Squeezebox server (way too painfully slow in browsing). I have two vortexbox appliances that I really like.....
***I don't work for Logitech...I'm just another user***
Location 1: Vortexbox Appliance 6TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet)
Location 2: VBA 3TB (2.2) > LMS 7.7.2 > Touch > Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio)
Office: Win7(64) > LMS 7.7.2 > SqueezePlay
Spares: VBA 4TB, SB3, Touch (3), Radio (3), CONTROLLER
Controllers: iPhone (iPeng), iPad (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.7 on Win7(64) laptop
Files: Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Tagging - mp3tag, Spotify
