Squeezebox Players

just hooked up my squeexebox and did a scan with media server and it only came up with about 5% of my audio library which is made up of mp3's and WMA's. have done several scans and the number of songs found doesn't change. they are all on a dedicated drive so should all be available. any ideas?

Are all music files in one folder on that drive?  LMS is properly setup to look for all folders containing music?

Using LMS on a computer or using the Touch's USB drive?  If using LMS on a computer is the music on a NAS or USB drive?  If NAS are permissions & paths set properly?

Is there any pattern to what LMS does or does not see ?  Could it be a tagging issue or DRM ?  Is there any clue in the scanner log ?

all album files are sub folders of main file 'my music' which is the directory i set LMS to search in. they are on an external USB drive connected to my PC. other than the media folders option in the library tab, what other permissions and paths can i check?

there was one error of a song that had a DRM protection but nothing that looked like it was being held up.

the scanner log shows 15,000 songs scan but LMS only sees 3,000. there are over 50,000 on the HD.

no pattern that i can see. a song from this artist, a song or two from another, then 6 complete albums from the next artist.

Check your tags w Mp3Tag.compare tags between songs that show and those that do not. Also  In Mp3Tag right click a file that shows and select extended tags. Do the same w a file from the same album That does not show and compare.

Permissions & paths are only NAS related, only mentioned them as I did not know what LMS was in use. 

As suggested, likely culprit is tags.

haven't had a chance to check the tags yet, but on a side note i did come up with something. i was also having trouble getting the player to random thru all of my songs rather than just by artist so i created a new playlist and dumped all 50,000+ songs into it in media player 11. the squeezebox recocgnizes this playlist (although it is slow loading it) and seems to have all of songs available. seems strange when it wouldn't pick up the same songs in a scan.?

will check the tags when i have a chance.

Hey blue934,

 It definitely seems like you are running into a tagging issue as mentioned by the Previous Users.

 One fast and easy way to pick out the songs that is not getting scanned is to to perform a half sort. Basically create a folder in your computer and point the LMS path to that folder.

 Put just one song into that folder and scan it to see if LMS is working. Once you get that going, take all your 50k songs and divide it by 2. Move the first 25k to the newly created folder and scan it. If it finds all 25k songs, thats awesome.

 If it dosen't then divide the 25 by 2 and scan it. Keep doing this until you find the problematic song(s) that is causing the block.

 Once you get a rough idea of what song(s) are not being scanned, you should then be able to figure out the solution easily.

Same problem here.

Scanned My Music folder on PC HD. LMS picked up random folders (even missed straightforward CD copies) and also usually only picked up part of o folder. Totally random and no pattern.

This is madness. My Roberts Stream 83i took about 90 seconds to connect to EVERY folder & file and works perfectly via WMP.

Rubbish.
