Another alternative to an internet radio is an Apple iPod Touch docked to a true alarm clock like the Sangean RCR-10. The iPod easily handles streaming radio and podcasts, and the Sangean is a full featured and reliable alarm clock, with over the air radio for a backup. Something else to consider.

Hello, I have the same problem tried everything even a factory reset, also tested on my second squuezebox radio that has the same issue.
The funny thing is that the problem seems totaly random, 20% of the cases it will work fine, 30% it will start with the default alarm signal and then stream the radio and the rest 50% it will just play the default alarm signal.
Funny that supports talks about problems with the internet connection because if directly stop the alarm and press whatever radio channel it will play directly. Could this be a case that the squuezebox tries to connect to the streams before the wireless interface is actualy brought up ?

Hello dlin,
You seem to have the concept of what the Radio ought to be doing at the moment. We have address this issue to the engineers and they are looking into it as we speak.
We hope to have this issue resolved in a timely manner.
If i get any new updates, I will keep you posted.

As stated in all my previous posts, my problem is exactly like dlin is having. Although I think my alarm works maybe 25% of the time. In fact this morning it worked & played the radio station I had it on, but after my 90 minute timeout the entire radio froze. I had to unplug to get it to work again. This is a new problem along with the default alarm always going off!!

Hello smark1,
Have you attempted to perform a Factory Reset on the Radio? If you have not done that, can I get you to do so and also, do perform a manual firmware update on the Player.
Once you perform the above steps, setup an alarm and see if the issue persists and also check to see if the Radio freezes.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi Kiruban,
I've done that before, but I just reset it again and did a manual firmware update. We'll see, but as I have said this has been done many times before and I don't have any confidence in this radio working.
I always use my iphone as a back up, Too bad Apple doesn't make internet radios!!

Morning Kiruban,
Alarm worked this morning with radio station & turned off after my timeout, but the clock did not reappear for at least 10 minutes. Just the radio station was showing during that time period.
Of course this really isn't much a test. I'll keep you informed, but why Logitech hasn't repaired this problem for so many people is bafflingly.

Not sure if this helps anyone but last night I tried this. set up my squeezebox to ping one host on my internal lan and one host at work. On both hosts I started a log (tcpdump) to verify that the ICMP was recived.
When the radio was supposed to wake me up at 06:30 only the annoying default signal sounded.
Checking the logs on both my LAN and the host at work I could not detect any loss of icmp packages.
So my last guess that the wireless interface did not connect quick enough seems to have been wrong... since it was up all the time ![]()
