Steering Wheels - Joysticks - Headsets - Gamepads

I want to apologize if there is an answer already posted in this forum....but I came up empty.  I have tried to "set" a button on my joystick as my push-to-talk button in teamspeak to no avail.  Is there something I'm missing?  Can it only be done through the profiler?  And if so, can you point me to a resource that explains it.  I tried in the profiler but couldn't get it to work (probably cuz I don't know what I'm doing).  But my preference would be to get it working without the profiler.
