Gamepad and Mac os x

I've been searching the forum discussions all afternoon and have not yet been able to find a solution to my current problem. I just purchased a Logitech Dual Action gamepad and want to use it with my sega/nes/snes emulator and associated ROMS. When the controller is plugged in, my computer recognizes its presence; however, when I load up the game, I am unable to use the gamepad as my controls. Any advice?

I'm currently running Mac OS Tiger on an iBook.

Re: Gamepad and Mac os x

Just had a similar problem - bought a Logitech usb gamepad because it said "Mac" on the box. I connected it to my Mac, and the Mac recognised the device no problem, but the game wouldn't configure to the device.

Stopped in at my local MacStation, where they told me about "USB Overdrive". It's a free download, with a polite request for payment if the utility helps you out. You can find it at http://www.usboverdrive.com/USBOverdrive/News.html, or at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/usboverdrive.html. It was a bit of a pain to manually map each button to the game, but it worked like magic once I figured it out. Apparently USB Overdrive will get just about any USB input device you can imagine talking to your Mac, so maybe it'll solve your issue .

Good luck.

Re: Gamepad and Mac os x

With Mac games it is up to the game developer to add support for any controller other than keyboard and mouse. If the game doesn't have this support written into it the gamepad will act as if it is not there.
