Re: Voltage on G25 Pedals

I have analog multimeter and the 50V is not that accurate. It's around 50 but definetely more than 24V.
I don't know how it is possible if they are using 24V PSUs. Since it is present only if the USB is disconnected the USB socket is grounding the pedals. I don't use external USB hub, it is connected to the case, but it doesn't matter because in this case the only thing the wheel is connected to is the wall connector.
I think, the pedals and other outside metal parts should be connected to the ground instead of the minus. Since there is no ground in the G25 it is probably the minus. Or something else...(?)

Re: Voltage on G25 Pedals

I have noticed this thing as well. When I connect the G25's power cord to the power source in a wall (only the power cord, not the USB) and touch the metal part of the steering wheel and a grounded spot (like some metal on a radiator) I feel how there is a current going through me. It kind of stings a bit in the fingers that touch the steering wheel and radiator. It goes on as long as I keep holding the wheel and the radiator.

So if I connect the USB cord to the computer, does the G25 gets grounded through the USB cable? Can my computer get damaged by this? My computer's PSU is not grounded.

I hope you understand what i mean, and I hope someone can help me with this.

Ooopsy, I haven't checked this site for about six months and here you go! :smileyhappy:

Actually Logitech has no intention to do anything about this as the number of complaints (and returns) has not reached a certain limit. Most of the users do not experience it because they keep the USB plugged in. The USB cable has grounding shield and that grounds the wheel's metal parts to the PC house, which is also grounded. No issues, everyone is happy. If you unplug the USB (the grounding), the potential rises in the pedals and that is what you feel when you touch it.

There are 3 issues: the G25 is not shielded properly, the powercord is not grounded by design (I know it is not necessary because it is a low voltage device, but what perceptively penetrates human skin is not low voltage... :-) ) and Logitech does not admit the design/manufacturing fault.

They are not stup1d. They likely know about the issue, but it is not worth putting too much work in this project as G25 is still selling well and only a handful of users found this problem.

If only 1 user reports it out of 100 then it is considered to be a user error, thus nothing needs to be done. It's simply not worth fixing it, redesign the whole manufacturing process, admit the error and recall hundreds of wheels. It is not just a driver issue that can be updated. Remember what Tyler said on the airplane to the lady in FightClub about car manufactures: "A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one."

Sorry for putting it this way and I'm not blaming the colleagues here in the forum, but that is just it.

Really... :smileyhappy:

ps: I love my G25 though!

Re: Voltage on G25 Pedals

Are you sure all G25 have this problem? I do not think it is like that. I am sending mine back so they can fix it or give me a new one.

Yes, you are right. But the guy who opened this thread returned his G25 and the new one also produced this problem.

Please RMA yours and we will see how the new one behaves.

Re: Voltage on G25 Pedals

When I plugged in the USB cable to my computer, the steering wheel still had voltage on it.

Hi...

perhaps we could open up an online petition and inform as many users of the g25 as possible.

A sticky in every known racing forum would certainly help!

Just a thought...

PS: I always have to power off my replaced g25 so that my 1 1/2 year old daughter doesn't get any damage!!

Re: Voltage on G25 Pedals

Interesting, I have voltage on my pedals, not on the wheel and only if the USB is disconnected. It seems these wheels are not totally identical. Your problem is different from mine.

I'd definetly return that G25. Please post how the new one works here.

Yes, might be a good idea to let more users know about this. But I don't know any better forum than Logitech's own forum. But I'll probably post these concerns in my native language in our gaming forums. We will see.
