USB Speakers (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

A friend of mine has talked me into getting the Logitech V20 USB Speakers. The sound quality was absolutely incredible!!! There is only one problem. When using iTunes, the volume buttons do not work. All other buttons were working. I switch over to the annoying windows media player v11, and the volume buttons work fine. The skip buttons and even the mute buttons work with iTunes, just not the Volume up and down buttons. I ordered the speakers anyway knowing this because I will "live" with that sacrifice for the overall quality...

Has anyone had this issue??? Can anyone think of a way to fix or work around it??? The volume buttons dont even control the master volume when using iTunes, but do as soon as iTunes 7.1.0.59 is closed. Also, the normal keyboard hotkeys that adjust the master volume will not work when the speakers are connected and iTunes is running. Without speakers connected, the normal keyboard hotkeys that adjust the master volume work fine, and if I have the speakers connected and iTunes is not running, the normal keyboard hotkeys will work without any problems....

Can you test the V20 speakers with iTunes 7.1.1 . You can download the latest version of iTunes from this link.

I downloaded the new version (7.1.1) and tried it... it didnt work... I had plugged the speakers in after the program was already running.... when i closed it and re-opened, they worked fine... it appears that may have been the cause over all....the v20 speakers are incredible!!! well worth the money....

I have similar problem. The buttons on my V20 used to work fine. But all of a sudden, none of the bottons works, no matter what software I am using. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks!

Had similar prob with buttons not working. After months of rearching, found this solution and now all work fine;

1. Check HID input service not disabled; start/run/services.msc. Scroll down to HID input service. double click on it and check it is set to manual or automatic, not disabled. Select start. If it now starts all should be ok. If it gives a file could not be found error then;

2. Browse to C/windows/system 32 and check for file HIDserv.dll. If not present the google it, download it and copy to above folder. Try to start again. If still no joy then at the command prompt type regsvr32 hidserv.dll.

 If you get an error along the lines of 'entry point could not be found' then;

3 Start/run/regedit. Browse to HKEY Local Machine/System/controlset/services/hidserv/parameters. Check if you have a string ServiceDll with a value %systemroot%\System32\hidserve. If not create it by;

 Right click on the parameters folder. Select new/Expandable String Value. Neme it ServiceDll. Right click on this and select modify. Enter value %SystemRoot%\System32\hidserv.dll. If you have more than one control set, repeat for all.

 Reboot and check again that the HID input service will start. If it does, all should work.

Love these speakers however the bottons on the top do not work with crapy Microsoft Vista!  Any ideas?  I tried the above and the HID service is set for automatic and running.

Tested it does work, at last. In my case I use a G110 keyboard.
