USB Speakers (READ ONLY ARCHIVE)

Hi there,

i have a very strange problem i cant figure out myself:

i bought my z-10 about 1 year ago and so far i was really

satisfied with them. since today.

they worked like a charm since today. i used them yesterday

with my itunes and as always everything was fine.

when i switched them on today, there was a loud buzzing

sound for 1 sec. and then dissapearing for 2 seconds from

the right speaker. since then, i do have sound, but the

buzz returns every 20 to 40 seconds from the right speaker.

plus i think the right speaker is a bit more silent than the left one..

they are connected via USB and i changed nothing during the

last couple of weeks/month. 

*EDIT* maybe i should mention, that i run winXP

the buzz even occurs if i unplugg them from my pc and i cant

control the buzz-volume (tough i still can control the volume of

my pc audio. thus i think its no USB or software issue, but i

might be wrong..

im really looking forward to get some help!

i still couldn't solve this problem. does really no one here have a clue what

the cause of my problem could be?

I believe it may be a defective capacitor in the amplifier section, possibly caused by use of poor quality components and a design that allows overheating, especially at high listening levels. I have this exact problem, and sometimes the powered speaker cuts out completely. I will open the speaker up and replace the amplifier capacitors - will let you know if this cures it.

Only consider doing this if your Z-10's are out of warranty, as are mine!
