I have Windows 7 and the remote won't work and I can't find an update on this site.
Z-5 is supposed to handle Windows 7 and visa/versa.

I also have the logitech Z5 and i can't get the remote to work with windows 7. This product is really expensive and i don't understand that logitech doesn't release a new software for it. It's unbelievable. If anyone managed to use the remote under 7, please post the solution.

I too had trouble with the remote when I first set these speakers up. I actually wasn't surprised, because I read a review where someone said the speakers worked great, but the remote didn't. Anyway, I did what a previous poster in this discussion said, and went to the Logitech site and downloaded the up-to-date software for the z-5s. The remote is now working great.
I uninstalled the software that was on my computer (which I had installed using the CD that came with the speakers), and then downloaded and installed the software from the Logitech site. I don't plan to keep the CD, as the software on it doesn't seem to be current.
The Z-5s look like pretty nice speakers, the sound is good, and although I don't see myself using the remote all that much, I'm happy to know it works for when I want it.

well the speakers are great but the software is**bleep** crap. I have to reset the media control every time or the remote will not control winamp.and please update it as it is years old and allow it to work along with a regular sound card so we have headphone and mic support as well.btw a plugin for winamp/wmp that will shut down the media player when you prees the media button again on the remote would kick **** as well ![]()

Mike (Logitech support), are you kidding? Did you just ask "What are you expecting the remote to do?" Well, how about "WORK". Mine isn't working at all either.

Just got my speakers and the remote doesn't work either. I'm on windows xp and i didn't even try to install the cd, i directly installed the software from the website. no luck.
Mike, your question was ridiculous... give us some useful information instead: is any update coming along to fix all those issues? it can't just work randomly...

Does anybody found a solution to this problem? I tried to check the services.msc but the HID is already set to automatic and is already started. Anything else to try?
