Z10 - No LCD devices found

I have a set of Z10 speakers which were working fine (after being replaced).  Windows Vista (pro?).

All of sudden no sound comes out of the speakers.  The LCD shows Z-10 in the display, but I can click on the Volume and it will show the volume.  Then the screen flashes to the CPU an RAM.  I know the CPU/RAM info is incorrect as it has not changed at all in the last day.

I have reinstalled the software.  (I unplugged the speakers, installed the software... LCD manager 1.04.153 two or three times.   Still not working.

If I go into the LCD manager software and click on click on the LCD settingstab it says no LCD devices are connected.

If I go into the control panel and click on Sounds, and right click on the speakers, and then click on TEST it says 'failed to play test tone'.

Could it be a windows update?  I don't know... they install automatically.

Any other ideas?

Thank you.

Re: Z10 - No LCD devices found

No date on mine... it just sits there showing Z-10.

When I first turn them on it says... Volume, and then CPU, and then changes to the Z10 screen and stays there.

Display button is unresponsive.

Hi,

In Control Panel, is the Z-10 there in the Sounds/Audio window?

Re: Z10 - No LCD devices found

Here is what is listed:

Speakers

Real Tek HD Audio

If I right click and test... the sound bar show sound should be coming from these

Real HD Audio - 2nd output

Real Tek HD Audio

This works (it is the headphone jack on my PC)

Real Tek Digital Output

Real Tec HD audio

If I right click and test... the soudn bar shows sound shoudl be coming from these

Speakers

Total Recorder WDM Audio Driver

If I right click and test...says 'failed to play audio tone'

Re: Z10 - No LCD devices found

Hi,

OK. A couple of things to try:

Change the USB cable. The speakers (Z-10) are not enumerating.

Unplug the speakers. This is a form of reset.

If the speakers do not enumerate on any USB port I would say they are defective and need to be replaced.

Re: Z10 - No LCD devices found

I've done that... and no change.

Also, I just had the speakers replaced... and they worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped again.   It seems to me that it has to do with drivers or something else rather than the physical speakers.   Maybe a conflict with RealTek?  (RealTek came on the PC, and I am not sure about changing it, or removing it?)  The RealTek system does not understand USB speakers and instead shows the settings as the pink/green circle type jacks.

Re: Z10 - No LCD devices found

Hi,

As has been said here many times a USB audio product is seen by the Operating System as a stand alone sound card. That is why there are drivers for it, as opposed to analog speaker which work with your sound card which has drivers of its own. The drivers for all Logitech USB speakers are supplied by the Operating System. Please make sure that they are up to date.

The fact that the speakers are not seen in Control Panel/Sounds/Audio shows that they are not being enumerated...that means the OS does not see them being plugged into the computer. A cause for this could be a defective cable (usb) or a defective USB port or a missing driver or a defective USB chip in the speaker.

You say you changed the cable and unplugged the speakers from the A/C wall outlet.

The next thing to try would be to find another computer and see if they work on that.

Do not connect to a USB hub, nor to a keyboard or monitor USB port.

Try connecting an MP3 player to the 3.5mm Aux jack on the right speaker.
