Best services for remote viewing

Hi,
It's been a while since I set one of these up.  What are the best ways / services to view the camera remotely?  I do not have a fixed IP address from my ISP so I need some way to view the camera remotely other than by a fixed IP address.

BTW - I'm planning on buying the Orbit MP so I would also like remote control

Thanks!  TT

Re: Best services for remote viewing

Welcome to the New Logitech Community Webcam Forum TT! :smileyhappy:

None of the Logitech cameras currently offered include remote control features. :smileysad:

As for viewing...it depends on how you want to go about that. Can you supply more details? Thanks.

Re: Best services for remote viewing

The ideal situation is to setup the camera on a pc connected via a broadband connection.  I would like a link then to have the camera publicly viewable.

Ideally, I would have liked the camera to be controllable by "priviledged users" for pan/tilt, etc.

I assume the Orbit is controllable on the local PC, right?  So, I could use some remote PC control like gotomypc or something to control it.

Make sense?

So, am I better off getting a service that provides an externally available address or DNS name for my camera or can I have the Logitech camera software push the camera image to some service site (and what are some current services).

Thanks!

Re: Best services for remote viewing

You'll need third party software to host the camera on a (your) website. Windows Media Encoder can do this (so I'm told).

Correct...the PTZ functions are controlled locally. I have suggested previously that someone try "Application Sharing" to see if that will work, but no one has "had the guts" to do so. :smileysad:
