Video Chat Applications (Non-Logitech)

I'm using a quickcam with windows 7 and skype 5.9.0.115.  Logitech driver 12.0.1278.0. The videos are fine. The sound works fine on ethe skupe echo test. Unfortunately the sound breaks up at my contacts site.

What do I do?

I have just discovered that the sound is ok if the video is turned off on skype.  What now?
