Does anyone out there have an idea of what is going on here? Read on:
Skype 5.0.0.152 / Win 7 64-bit Ultimate
2.33 GHz 2 Quad Core / 4GB RAM
Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910
24 MB ADSL / Direct X 11
(Home-built Rolls-Royce)
Tested all night long using Logitech Vid Application & Device Settings without any problem, BUT in real life using Skype this €100 top-of-the-range webcam freezes after around 1-2 minutes, whilst all other aspects of the call remain as they should.
During the "in-house" test in Task Manager > Performance I get:
CPU Usage ~5% / Memory 2.30 GB
Physical memory (MB) Total 4095 / Cached 1750
Available 1729 / Free 40 / System Handles 2988XX
Threads 1108 / Processes 86 / Up Time (n/a) / Commit (MB) 3233/8188
Kernel memory Paged 355 / Nonpaged 113
I've tried uninstalling the C910, physically removing it, reconnecting, reinstalling and updating. I've run uninstall through Device Manager, then 'scan for changes' and identifying the device from there. I've uninstalled Skype, rebooted and reinstalled. I've run Windows updates.
All to no avail.
Now I'm not easy to win over as a customer - I'm prepared to invest in a top end product with my ethos being "Buy Quality, Cry Once", but after years of investing in the best that Logitech has to offer, this Webcam has let me down with this freeze issue in Skype.
It's frustrating and something of a let-down. I expected more of this particular product.
So does anyone out there have an idea of what is going on here?
Thanks // Paul, Gothenburg, Sweden

I have the exact same problem when in Windows Live Meeting. So, I am not convinced it is a skype issue

Please post this question to a New Message.
Reason: Thread Hijacking - Different "Video Chat" application.
Thanks.

Exactly the same problem here.
Interesting is that I had the C910 installed on a lesser machine with Win64 Pro, and had NO ISSUES. Skype would work perfectly and indefinitely ... Seems to me it is a Win7 driver issue !!!

I have the exact same problem! ![]()
HTPC
AMD Quadcore 3GHz with Windows 7 x64
Skype 5.1
Logitech C910 webcam
Video freeze all the (edited word filter evasion) time!
Have another machine as well where it strangely seems to work. Reinstalled windows on HTPC to hopefully solve the problem but still there!
Either skype problem or logitech driver issue with certain hardware / PCs ? But can't seem to figure it out, which is the problem have installing, reinstalling, unplugged etc but nothing seem to help.

I have exactly the same problem
Powerful Atlon II 3GHz, quad core with 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS
Skype is 5.1.0
Freezes most of the time when I was using Skype. Actually, I didn't use the camera with anything else. Most likely this caused by drivers for the camera.
It's very frustrating

Does this issue occur when you are using the camera in the Logitech Webcam Software application (i.e., to create still images and/or videos), or only in a third-party Instant Messenger program (Skype)?
Thanks.
