Consistent BSOD in Skype (Windows 7-64bit)

[ Edited ]

My PC is running an ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard with a Phenom II X4 945 Processor.  (Windows 7-64bit)  Running Skype (v. 5.8.0.158) consistently causes blue screen errors and crashes my PC.  I have a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000.

Problem signature:

  Problem Event Name:                        BlueScreen

  OS Version:                                          6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1

  Locale ID:                                             1033

Additional information about the problem:

  BCCode:                                               1000007e

  BCP1:                                                    FFFFFFFFC0000046

  BCP2:                                                    FFFFF8000349F37C

  BCP3:                                                    FFFFF880039B5EB0

  BCP4:                                                    FFFFF880039B5F50

  OS Version:                                          6_1_7600

  Service Pack:                                       0_0

  Product:               256_1

Can anyone help me fix this problem?  I cannot seem to roll back the drivers and ASUS hasn't been helpful in diagnosing the problem.  I am not exactly sure where to start here?  It was working fine....

Re: Consistent BSOD in Skype (Windows 7-64bit)

Hello RobbieJ,

Does this happen when using the Logitech Webcam Software or only when using Skype? Do you experience a crash when using the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000?

Re: Consistent BSOD in Skype (Windows 7-64bit)

I've got the same or a similar problem, a BSOD after about 15-20secs into a Skype video call. Immediately before the BSOD I can see that the format of the video changes to something like a widescreen format, followed by the crash.

I'm also using another conferencing software (VIA3, www.via3.com) on the same PC and am not experiencing any problems with the video so far.

Re: Consistent BSOD in Skype (Windows 7-64bit)

Just so the folks at Logitech know...this happens to Intel-based systems, as well. I have been experiencing the BSOD issue at least once a week for the last year while running Skype. The 64-bit driver from Logitech is ALWAYS the culprit. I, too, have the QuickCam Pro 9000. Interestingly, I am using another QuickCam Pro 9000 with my Intel-based Dell laptop when I travel...loaded with Win7 Pro 32-bit...no BSODs, ever, while running Skype...go figure.
