Logitech Webcam Video Call Freezes Programs...?

I'm not sure if it is appropriate to ask for help here but I'm desperate.  I believe the problem may concern the Webcam.

I am running Windows Ultimate 32x with Service Pack 1 on a Dell Inspiron 1525.

Everytime I initiate a video call with my Logitech webcam, the program freezes and I have to force close it.  I have tried the programs on other computers so it doesn't concern my accounts, and since it happens with both Messenger and Skype I doubt its the programs themselves.  I'll admit it may be a compatibility issue between Windows and my Dell (originally installed with Windows XP) but I wanted to be sure that the webcam isn't involved before I go elsewhere with the problem.  Could it be that my drivers aren't working properly or could it be the webcam itself?  It isn't new - a friend recently gave it to me.

Its imperative that I sort this out quickly so I communicate with my family.  We haven't spoken in days due to this problem - I greatly appreciate any help.  I just want to be sure whether or not the Webcam is involved in the problem and how I can fix it please.  Thanks!

Re: Logitech Webcam Video Call Freezes Programs...?

Hopefully this additional information will be enough for some assistance with my problem:

I connect to the internet via a wireless router in my home - the issue persists even when I connect with the ethernet cord.  I use the Silver QuickCam for Notebooks Pro.  The M/N is V-UAR38 and the P/N is 861303.  I checked the date on my driver and it is 10/7/2009 meaning I use LWS 1.10.

If any other information is needed to work out the problem, just let me know.  I'm willing to learn anything I can to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.  Thank you.
