I'm trying to setup a logitech webcam on Mac osx (10.4.11) for an application that needs the camera to not be so automatic (manual focus, manual white balance, manual exposure, etc.). All of these features are easily accessible in windows via the QuickCam "change settings" button -- but I cannot find this functionality on the mac.
I have tried with 4 different logitech webcams:
- Logitech for Notebooks Deluxe (via the macam driver)
- Logitech Quickcam pro for Notebooks
- Logitech Quickcam Communicate Deluxe
- Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro (the latest one I'm now trying).
All of the cameras work -- in the sense that I can get video from them; but none of them allow me to adjust settings manually beyond post-process brightness/contrast. I have tried a number of different settings dialogs (UVC based I presume, so just minimal settings are adjustable). I have also tried the QuickCam 8.01 software for mac which should be the way to go I think, but it always says that it can't find any logitech cameras. I'm guessing that there is either a strange issue where the mac software only works for a couple cameras or otherwise the mac UVC driver is consuming the device and not allowing the logitech application to access it directly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Adam

Thanks. I have read many of your posts (as well as the link you included).
Could you offer anything more specific that would help to get access to the advanced settings of the camera on the Mac? I realize that RightSight/RightSound are not going to happen, but I don't really need them. I just want to manually adjust the focus, exposure, and white balance.
A bit of background in case it helps... I'm developing a cross-platform open source application that will be released in a few months that uses a webcam. I will be suggesting a couple of webcams that I have tested that work with all three operating systems (linux, windows, and mac) and I am hopeful that there is a solution on mac that works with at least one Logitech camera.
