How can I broadcast from my webcam?

[ Edited ]
Is there anyway I can setup a broadcast?

I don't want to use something like skype or stickam or similar.

Also, I do NOT EVER want to use Windows Media Encoder.

Any other software or methods, I'm open to.

(Also, if it's viewable through a browser (with flash), that would be a plus, but it's not manditory)

And I'm using Windows XP.

Hi Trel,

You could use the free encoder from Camstreams.

Why don't you want to use Windows Media Encoder????

Re: How can I broadcast from my webcam?

Welcome to the Logitech Community Webcam Forum Trel! :smileyhappy:

Thank you for posting this question to the forum.

@NairB -

Isn't the Camstreams Media Encoder similar to the Windows Media Encoder?

So far, the OP has ruled out standalone IM's, flash-based websites, and third-party broadcasting clients.

What's left?

Thanks.

I didn't rule out third-party broadcasting clients. I ruled out just one.

I want people on any operating system to be able to view, not just windows.

Either way, my ideal method would be to stream via flash on a locally served webpage.

If there's anything that could do that, it would be perfect.

While googling info on that, I just came across this

http://www.webcamxp.com/home.aspx

WebcamXP seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. And I'm doing it with flash so it can be viewed by anyone.

(now if only I could get sound to work)

This is a great post Trel :smileywink:

I have another free program you could use that broadcasts video only where the viewer can see your video via a JAVA applet.

You can see an example of this if you click the second "live" button in my siggy. I am using a Logitech Sphere AF cam with pan and tilt facility but as you will see, you need JAVA to view. No sound unfortunately.

You can visit the RoboRealm website here

Hey I downloaded the webcamXP you found, great find by the looks of it :smileywink:...I am going to test this and get back to you all.

@Kachi - Yes thats correct Kachi, I think camstreams encoder is based on windows media encoder but like you was wondering why this was an issue for Trel :smileysurprised:

I dabbled but I can't do anything major.
My biggest project was to make a short looping movie :smileytongue:

WebcamXP will let you show it using javascript, moving jpeg (it says firefox only for this one), and flash.

Re: How can I broadcast from my webcam?

pooey, sound only works with the windows media player streams :smileysad:

Anyone know of any product that works JUST like webcamXP but works with sound (and allows it to be broadcast as flash)
