Networking my quickcam?????

I have a small three computer network. My business is in my backyard and I am hardwired underground to the house from my hub/router. Can I have the quickcam sitting on the counter plugged into my host computer and see who is walking into the business ????

Re: Networking my quickcam?????

Welcome to the New Logitech Community Webcam Forum rob! :smileyhappy:

The camera/software was not designed to do this. :smileysad:

I have suggested that someone try "Application Sharing", but no one has responded to that yet. :smileysad:

You could use an IM for this though...

Re: Networking my quickcam?????

For the IM, you'd have to download the program of choice, create two usernames, log in, broadcast the camera from one account, and watch it on the other.

You could always move to an Ethernet-based camera, but those are a bit more expensive.

Re: Networking my quickcam?????

What about using a webcam package? We use webcam32 (www.webcam32.com) which is fairly inexpensive and allows us to watch from any computer.

Re: Networking my quickcam?????

On second thoughts, www.webcamxp.com may be a better bet. Streaming video via Webcam32 dosen't work with the later versions of Java.

Re: Networking my quickcam?????

I'm not familiar with those programs, but if the camera is recognized by them and works...go ahead and use it!
