Re: Quick tips for posting video topics….

Vista 32-bit/64-bit and WinXP 64-bit

If your issue concerns Vista 32-bit/64-bit (or WinXP 64-bit), please put this in the title of your thread. For example -

My problem (Vista x32)
My problem (Vista x64)
My problem (WinXP x64)

This will help everyone keep better track of what is going on. It will also help others to determine if their problem is the same...and not waste time reading (or posting to) a thread that doesn't apply to their particular situation (or OS).

Please DO NOT interleave OS questions...since what you need to do OS-wise may be different than what is needed on another OS...and will confuse the issue.

Thanks.

Please DO NOT POST to the unlocked "floated" informational threads (such as this one) created by the Administrators, Moderators, and myself.

There are meant to be guides...not places to work out your issues...or ask questions.

If you do post to one of these "informational" threads, it will only delay a response to you...as the forum Moderators will have to move your post into its own thread before a response can be given.

Thanks.

How to install your camera in UVC Mode

1) Uninstall QuickCam.
2) Reboot.
3) Plug in the camera.
4) Windows will automatically install the generic Microsoft UVC drivers.
  • For Vista, do not alllow the PC to use Windows Update to search for drivers.
5) Test the camera for basic functionality by using any third-party software available to you that is "camera-aware".

Done!

UVC = USB Video Class device (Ref: Wikipedia® article on UVC)

Thanks.

Private Messages

Whenever you visit the forum, please check to see if you have any Private Messages.

Occasionally, you may be contacted this way for issues that do not need to be posted in the public eye.

If you would like to be notified by e-mail when a Private Message arrives, please set the following forum preference:

My Profile -> Preferences -> Private Messenger Settings -> Receive Email Notifications For New Notes (checked).

NOTE

As a courtesy, I will "bump" your thread one time, and one time only, when I send you a PM for the first time. After that, it is your responsibility to check for any follow-ups that I may send you in the future.

IMPORTANT

When you respond to my first PM, please let me know if you have set the above e-mail preference.

Thanks.
