Possible corrupted webcam

Hello.  I was using my webcam but decided to switch it to a different port.  After plugging it into a new USB port, I got an Unknown Device error, saying it has malfunctioned in some way.  So I unplugged it and plugged it back into the old USB port (The one that worked 3 minutes before) and I get the same error.

I unplugged my webcam and plugged other USB devices into that port and it worked just fine, and switched my webcam into one of the other USB ports that worked just fine and got the same error.  Soon after that I plugged my webcam into my laptop and got the same error with all 4 USB ports, however my MP3 player, keyboard, mouse, joystick, all were detected no problem.

Is it possible that my 1 corrupted USB slot could have fried something on my webcam?  Is there anyway to flash it?

My webcam is a quickcam orbit af and I am running Vista 64bit on my PC and 32bit XP on my laptop.  My pc is running a Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 motherboard.

Keep in mind my webcam worked PERFECTLY FINE before putting it into the other USB slot (It has corrupted other devices such as USB storage devices but not my keyboards/mice.

It has corrupted other devices such as USB storage devices but not my keyboards/mice.

Based on your testimony, it appears that the malfunctioning USB port had destroyed the camera. :smileysad:

Thanks.

Re: Possible corrupted webcam

Is there anyway to fix this without doing an RMA to where I bought it? I would rather not go through that hassle however I can get a replacement.

Re: Possible corrupted webcam

If I was able to post a setupapi.log, would you be able to determine if there is anyway to fix it?  I cannot RMA it back to the company I bought it from due to not having the original box anymore.  Do you know also perhaps if Logitech could supply me with anything that can be used so i may return it to get a successful RMA?
