Possible to get replacment flat panel monitor clip?

My splendid Quickcam Pro 4000 came with a base for placement on a flat surface which worked well on the top of my old CRT. Is it possible to get a suitable flat planel clip from anywhere to go with my new flat panel monitor? Does Logitech sell them? Can't find any on their web site, nor eBay, nor any other retail outlet.

Welcome to the Logitech Community Webcam Forum KL! :smileyhappy:

AFAIK, Logitech does not sell replacement monitor clips. :smileysad:
You chould call them though and find out just to make sure.

Perhaps something is available from a third-party vendor.

Thanks.

Re: Possible to get replacment flat panel monitor clip?

I'm sorry, but there was a database article that stated that spare parts were available for sale through our sales department. That article was incorrect, or outdated, and I believe it was removed or updated. You can contact the tech support department to see if replacements can be authorized, or see if we can offer you a special discount program.

We have a program, called our OWC discount program, for customers who have damaged or lost parts for their products. The program allows you to purchase a replacement, either the same or what the authorized upgrade would be, for half the website price. So, if you had a webcam that was damaged through a dog eating the cord, or some other non-warrantied situation, you could call us, and we could see if you qualify for the OWC program. You would be able to purchase a replacement camera (or other product) for half the website price, but would pay the full shipping/handling charges, plus applicable sales tax.

There would be a downside however, you would only be covered under a 30-day warranty, due to the replacement having been damaged (or parts being lost) under a non-warrantied situation. We offer the discount so that you can still enjoy our Logitech products, but we can't provide more than a brief warranty, just in case the new replacement is defective.

I've sent a brief note to Mal, to alert him to the fact that the article about the sales department is incorrect, so hopefully this will reduce the confusion.

Re: Possible to get replacment flat panel monitor clip?

[ Edited ]
If this is for a desktop system you might want to try what I have done. I fashioned a crude flat panel clip using one of those conference ID card holders that seem to accumulate in drawers everywhere. These are a clear plastic things with two 180 degree folds in them.

1. Unfold the shortest flap and get it to remain at 90 degrees to the centre flap.
2. Unfold the longest flap and get it to around a 45 degree angle - just enough so you can comfortably do the next step without the long flap being stuck under the middle flap. Its shape (viewed from the side) should now look something like: '7
3. Tape the card holder to the top of the monitor with the short flap hooking over the front.
4. Take the camera off the old CRT base.
5. Tape the old base designed for a CRT to the middle section of the card holder.
6. Reattach the camera to the CRT base.
7. Bend the long flap so that the CRT base is at a suitable angle and is stable.

Re: Possible to get replacment flat panel monitor clip?

Can it really be true that I can't buy a $6 part for my $50 camera so it will clip onto my new $200 monitor?  That just blows my mind.  Will Logitech be making these parts available any time in the future, or do I really have to resort to having to construct something out of plastic and tape?  Or worse yet - spend another $50 on a new camera that I don't need, just so I can have a freaking monitor clip?

I'm really hoping this is a joke.

AFAIK, they are not selling clips as replacement parts.

You'll have to call to find out for sure.

Thanks.
