Webcam - Hardware

Hello,

I recently purchased an old Quickcam for Notebook Deluxe (Part Number: 961400-0403 / 960-000012).  It works fine when plugged directly into my laptop but when I try to plug it into my powere Belkin 4 port USB 2.0 HUB it ceases to work.  Windows still registers the device and it shows up in My Computer however when I try to open it I receive an error indicating that it failed to initialize the camera.  The self diagnostic (right click in my computer -> properties -> self diagnostic or something similar) reports that the camera is working fine.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

The use of an external USB hub is not supported by Logitech (Ref: FAQ #535 and FAQ #305).

Blah.  I hate crippled devices.  First it won't work in OS X because it isn't a UVC compliant device.  Then it won't work with any sort of USB hub which makes it useless to me as it needs to sit about 10 feet from my computer (I'm assuming because it isn't a standard video device again, my other logitech camera works fine in both scenarios).  And now that I tried to uninstall the drivers for it it took out all of my other cameras... including the non-logitech one!

Very frustrating. This was just a rant though.
