C510 not detected

Since I purchased the C510 webcam I've always had problems with it not being detected. I have to fiddle with the cam, moving it, bending it, opening and closing the folding parts until finally it is detected. Then, I cannot adjust its position because any adjustment will make it Not Detected again. Sometimes I get it detected after a minute, sometimes it takes much longer.

Its not a problem with the USB port because other hardware works when plugged in.

Any advice?

1) What is the 860-xxxxxx (or 8xxxxx) series number from the camera's identification tag (FAQ #3427), or preferably, its USB\VID ID?

2) What Operating System (OS) and Service Pack (SP) version is installed?

Good question. I've never tried it on another computer. It might take me quite a while to find a "volunteer" computer, I'm traveling abroad right now and don't have friends and family to volunteer their computers...

I would have to install the software on the volunteer to test it properly, no?

Tried using cam on another computer and it recognized the cam quicker than on my laptop, BUT the moment I moved the foldable cam parts it unrecognizes it and then recognizes it, unrecognizes it, recognizes it etc. But much faster than with my laptop.

Utterly confused...
