I cannot get a new C525 webcam mic to function. I have tried both the Logitech and USB audio drivers, but the mic is still dead. The mic is recognized in the Windows Recording Devices window and it is flagged as the "default communications device". Also, there is no VU meter icon to the right of the mic entry. The Realtec analog mic connection is set as the "Default Device".
The analog mic works just fine. I can see the Properties of the mic, but the "Levels" tab is empty. Also, it lets me change the icon for the mic, but is won't save any changed icon.
I have tried the mic with Sound recorder and it is dead. I did a "clean install" as described in this forum but still no change. Another hint is the Skype microphone test call fails with the message "can not access your audio card". Also, I have tried to use Logitech USB headsets and have never been able to get them to work either.
I am running the latest versions of the Logitech drives / software. I am running WIndows 7 64 bit with Realtech HD Audio software that came with the MB. I also have a Hauppauge Win TV HVR-1600 TV tuner installed - don't know if that is pertinent.
Thanks for any help on this frustrating experience.

Hi dweller569,
It sounds to me like the mic is defective, would it be possible to test the camera on a second computer for the same problem? You don't have to install the software, just let the Windows drivers install and test the microphone in Recording Devices. If it has the same problem that would confirm it as a hardware defect, in which case the next step would be to return it or contact customer care in your region for a warranty replacement.
Regards

I wish that you were right, but the webcam works just fine on my Lenovo Win 7 64 bit laptop.
By the way, I did check and the audio inf files are all in my Windows/INF folder.

Please provide a copy of the setupapi.dev.log for evaluation... per the specific instructions mentioned.
Thanks.

The problem was fixed by doing a 14-hour Windows 7 Repair. Stressful, but effective. This issue is closed.
