I have the same problem.
I have tried to install my new C615 on an Asus X53e (running i5-2430M, 2.4Ghz with Windows 7 64bit), and I get the BSOD.
The accompanying message only stays on the screen a relatively short time. The import of the message seems to be:
Windows has encountered a problem and needs to shut down to protect your computer. If you are seeing this screen for the first time make sure you have correctly installed new software or hardware. If you see the message again, ... (and there follow some instructions about disabling the cache in BIOS [what is that? how do I do it, please?]).
I bought this webcam because my lovely Quickcam 9000 also gives the BSOD on my Asus.
The Quickcam also produced a BSOD on a new Medion desktop, but that problem has resolved itself (by itself, I assume, though I have re-installed downloaded software for it several times).
I don't like moaning or complaining, but I am disappointed in Logitech. I have had to upgrade my webcams, I am spending a lot of time and effort trying to install them on my machines, my MacBook Pro will not accept the Quickcam 9000 and I have had to buy 3rd party software to run the C615 on OSX (iGlasses).
Sorry to be negative. When the cams work, they are fine. But installing them has become a problem of late.

Hello misterspeakeasy,
Can you please tell me if you have WD Smartware from Western Digital installed on your Windows 7 x64 operating system?
If you do, this can cause for your computer to crash (you'll get a blue screen-BSOD) when you either:
1. Install the LWS and connect a Logitech webcam
2. Reboot the computer after installing the LWS
To fix this, we suggest you download the latest version of WD Smartware from the Western Digital website:

smartware.asp?id=wdfGeneric&os=win This is a UVC webcam which doesn't need software to be use with Mac OSX, and for that reason provides only basic functions.
Best Regards,
Vanessa
