I am trying to use my C920 as a document camera. When positioned about 15 inches above a page of printed text, the C920 will not auto focus properly. I exchanged the webcam and have the same problem. I can manually focus the webcam but the auto feature is no good. Any suggestions other than to return it??

We could try to move the C920 a little bit closer to the documents. Sometimes the Focus is affected by bad lighting, so we could also try to adjust the lighting conditions, either by lighting up the space where you are taking the pictures, or by disabling the RightLight feature and adjusting the lighting conditions manually.
Please let me know how it goes barryj, I hope that we can figure this out soon.

I have tried all sorts of things. I don't know what algorithm Logitech is using but it is not good. My Pro 9000 focuses perfectly. I have another auto focus webcam that also focuses perfectly. I find that if I move my typed page real close to the C920, it will focus, then when I put the page back to a distance of about 15 inches, the autofocus moves to the infinity position. Then I have to focus manually. It is also interesting that after focusing manually, if I turn on autofocus, the autofocus immediately moves to the infinity position, and out of focus. I replaced the C920 thinking it must be defective but the new camera does the same thing.
If you don't believe me, just try it.

Perhaps we could try to install a different version of the Logitech Webcam Software and check to see if that helps to correct the issue. Could you please provide me with the information below, so I can send you a link to download a compatible version?
I'm looking forward to your reply barryj, I hope that we can figure this out soon.

When I first got the C920, I had LWS ver 1 on my computer. hen I installed the C920 I got a message that I had to upgrade to ver 2.0 and I did that on one of my two computers. So, the C920 wont work on ver 1 and does not autofocus using 2.
I suggest that you send this info to the Logitech engineers and ask them to try what I am doing. Use a type written page on white paper at a distance of about 12-15 inches. It will not autofocus. Then focus manually and when you engage the autofocus it will unfocus. I would think the LWS engioneers would like to find out why this doesn't work properly.
The upside down option has been removed in LWS ver 2. I don't know why as I needed it. Also a full screen or full resolution view would be a good thing also. By not having these options makes me wonder why not. Is the C920 not capable of displaying 1980 X 1020 at full resolution???

I'll be glad to forward this information to the proper team, so they can take a deep look into this. Please keep in mind that the Logitech Webcams were designed mainly for home use, and for video chatting. This means that the Auto Focus feature was designed to focus on faces. Therefore, you might not be able to get a really sharp picture when you are trying to focus on documents with small print.
I hope that you find this information helpful barryj, best regards.
