Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum, but am not a novice at computers. I've been employed as both a computer technician and network admin for 12 years.
A friend of mine gave me his old Logitech camera, because he couldn't get drivers to work with it for Windows 7 and because Microsoft already gave him a new MS model to demo. I brought it home and couldn't get drivers for it even in Windows XP! Here's what I know about it:
It has the camera body of a Communicate or Communicate STX, but feet that look (from the front) more like that of a QuickCam Chat--only black.
It has no model numbers on it whatsoever, just the Logitech logo on top (Just white on black, no colors)
It connects via USB
It's device manager "Device Instance Id" is: USB\VID_046D&PID_08F5\5&1E3BE0&0&2
I saw another post on this forum with a similar ID, but it ended differently. I think that means it is in the Communicate catagory, but I've downloaded a bunch of different driver packages for different Communicate models, to no avail.
Anyone know what camera this is? Any special place or way to do drivers? I'd like to us it in Windows 7 also, drivers for that?
Any help would be appreciated. THANX!!!
[Mode Note: Added (Windows 7) to title]

Unfortunately, Beta Operating Systems are not supported.
Please contact Logitech Support directly for assistance with this issue.
Thanks.

KachiWachi,
I realize that Logitech doesn't support 'beta' operating systems. That's assumed with betas. I appreciate the post, however. I am specifically looking to make this camera work in Windows XP. Once I figure out exactly what camera it is, I'll try to figure out a way to do more with it.
Aside from contacting Logitech support with the question, is there any other way to identify my camera? Let me know.
Thanx!

Sweet! That took care of it! I appreciate it very much.
Now I'm curious as to why the versions the support search tool came up with didn't give me working software even when I picked the correct model.
I'm especially curious about this since the version of software that is working now doesn't work with Windows Vista or x64 XP. Can you explain that phenominon? Is this the ONLY version that will have the drivers for this camera? Newer versions exclude it?
It is working currently, but I'd appreciate a greater understanding of the situation, if possible. Thanks again!

Which "support search tool" are you referring to?
Thanks.

When I go to Logitech.com and click support at the top of the screen, it brings up a search tool.
Under "Search by name", I select 'webcams' in the product type drop-down, then under 'product name' I've selected all the "communicate" types. Notice the plain "communicate" I have isn't listed. I've tried all of those that are listed, and none of them provided me a working driver for my camera.
The page you gave me did work, but I'm not sure how I would get there without finding the link on this forum.
I'd really like to find a newer version of the software that would work with Vista (32-bit OR 64-bit). Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, this camera is not supported on Vista.
Thanks.
