Installation problem with QuickCam Pro for Notebooks

Hi there,

I have a QuickCam Pro for Notebooks (Model 861209 / VID 046D / PID 08C3). Two weeks ago it worked fine with QuickCam software 11.8, then it was not connected to my notebook for two weeks and yesterday I tried to reconnect it. When I plugged in the camera, Windows (Win XP, SP3) came up with the normal driver installation procedure, installed the USB-part of the camera ("USB-Verbundgerät" in the german version of WinXP), the microphone but when it came to the camera-part, Windows said, it could not install the camera becauseit was missing in the INF-file.

Then I uninstalled QC software 11.8 and installed 10.5 and tried again to install the camera, which ende with the same error, the microphone and the "Verbundgerät" were installed, the camera was not found in the INF-file. Then I uninstalled the QuickCam software, searched for driver files in my Windows-folder  and tried to install the camera manually by selecting the driver files that came with QuickCam 10.5 when Windows asked where to find the driver. There also Windows said the camera is missing in the INF-fil, although in the lvPRO3c.inf there is a section for my camera.

I don't know how I can get my camera working again, so any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible that Windows stored a wrong driver for the camera because I tried to use QC 11.8? Where can I look for stored driver files? In C:\Windows\system32\drvstore, C:\Windows\INF, C:\Programme\Logitech and C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Logishrd I already deleted all drivers from Logitech, I also uninstalled SetPoint, although it should not interfere with my camera.

TIA Florian

Re: Installation problem with QuickCam Pro for Notebooks

Thanks for the help. It was the missing registry entry for imaging devices. Now the camera's working fine with QuickCam 11.8 :robotvery-happy:
