Internal Error 2738 (VISTA)

I am using windows vista home premium and trying to install updated logitech software for Quickcam Communicate STX. I will start to download and then it stops and says 'Internal Error 2738' I followed all the instructions to uninstall all older software, I disabled my anti-virus, deleted temp files and I still can't get it to download. Any Ideas?

Thanks but this doesn't help me much. The pages do not exist or I have to click on many links that take me nowhere that I can understand. Thanks anyway.

Re: Internal Error 2738 (VISTA)

Please remember that you are posting to the Logitech Users Discussion Forum...not Logitech Customer Support Online.

Since your issue is technical in nature, and concerns an Internal Error message, this is really not the place to come for assistance.

The only reason you should be posting a topic such as this here is if you are (for example) a Software Installation Engineer with Installshield experience that can provide technical information on the cause of this error, provide a potential "fix" for it, or wish to discuss Installshield issues (as related to the Logitech Installer).

All posters should contact Logitech Support directly for further assistance with this type of issue.

Thanks.

Re: Internal Error 2738 (VISTA)

I did a google search and found a solution. I won't post the answer here since I am not a Software Installation Engineer with Installshield experience.

I posted here for help from other users who MAY have the same issue and be able to help. If my answer was in the wrong place, tell me that initially instead of directing to places that have nothing to do with my problem.

THANKS!

Re: Internal Error 2738 (VISTA)

Your "answer was [not] in the wrong place".

The problem is that the forum is just not equipped to handle *certain* technical issues such as this...because we do not have access to the Logitech Installer source code.

All we can do here is to point you towards information about the error itself...so that you can look at your PC and see if you have set it up in a way that would cause this error to occur.

As you have found out, this is an OS problem that has nothing to do with the Logitech Installer.

Sr. Software Engineer geepers touched briefly on this error here...but he did not fully elaborate on his comments...and what could cause this to specifically occur on a users PC.

Thanks.

[ Edited ]
KandyKane, thank you for posting about this issue you are having.

I, for one, would be interested in a little direction concerning this issue. If you found some information, please, by all means post what you found to resolve your issue. If you have a resolution, I would love to hear of it or at least where you went to find your answer.

This outlet is meant to collect problems and have answers to them, not have problems and become even more frustrated by a lack of answers.

Re: Internal Error 2738 (VISTA)

Hi there,

I did a google search with that error message and came across a few different mesage boards. None had anything to do with logitech but it seems it's a problem with VISTA itself. Open the command prompt as administrator and type regsvr32 vbscript.dll. If you don't run as admin, it won't work and you'll get another error message. This was all I needed to do. I then installed the new logitech software no problem. I hope this helps. :smileyhappy:
