Welcome to the New Logitech Community Webcam Forum Richo! ![]()
You mention a software compile, but do not mention what you are compiling, and with what program, etc...
Have you tried upgrading to QuickCam 9.5.0?

Thanks for the welcome :-)
Not much point going into the details of my compilation environment, suffice to say it's for embedded devices. I figured the important thing to know is that there's a lot of HDD activity. The 99% usage occurs about 8 minutes into the build.
Anyway, I shall try the newer Quickcam and report the result. Interesting that the new Notebook Pro camera doesn't appear on the downloads page...
Cheers,
Rich :-)

I have now tested QuickCam 9.5.0 and the result is the same. CPU usage again goes to 99%. For the benefit of anyone reading this who is suffering the same problems, stopping and disabling the "Logitech Process Monitor" service (so it won't ever run) via
Start | Run | services.msc
Will get you out of trouble.
Cheers,
Richard.

My Launcher.exe version number is 9.5.0.1099.
I telecommute, so my QuickCam is not something I can shut off all the time unfortunately. For now, I'll just stop the service when I do anything intensive. I would hope this will be fixed in the next version, though!
That's funny that Logitech uses Granny & Pixomatic from RAD Game Tools. Good use of those libraries, and good deal for RAD!

Are these Video Effects "creatures"? (My cameras can't use the Video Effects, so I wouldn't know. I don't even know who Granny & Pixomatic are.
