Re: LVPrcSrv.exe uses 99% CPU

I've run into the same issue while trying to compile code in cygwin.

Is there going to be any resolution to this issue?

Re: LVPrcSrv.exe uses 99% CPU

Me, too.  I have just experienced total XP fatal crashes, blackouts in online communication with WebEx, Windows Explorer crashes, etc. (all on a previously rock-solidly stable system) -- all of which appear to be related to my recent installation of a "improved" Logitech webcam.

After several hundred dollars of tech time and many hours of my own -- with lots of technical help -- it all seems to center on one little program -- LvPrcSrv.exe.

I am not sure what Logitech put into it, but whatever it is, it is wreaking havoc with XP, Explorer, etc.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.  I like Logitech products, but this is intolerable.

Many thanks.

LvPrcSrv.exe is for the Video Effects.

If you don't use them, just "remove" this feature.

Thanks.

Hello, I'm new in here and I know I'm answering to an old post, but it's quiet interesting that I have nearly exact the same problem: While using a quiet simple script under cygwin, the process LVPrcSrv.exe starts to use more than 99% CPU and at the end the script stops working with an error (the error differs each time I restart the script). So, do you know if there are new expertises about this problems or is it still the same proposal: Stop this process!? :smileywink: Cheers and thank you Alex

I don't know what cygwin is, but if you don't need the Video Effects running for it, you can stop the LvPrcSrv.exe process.

Thanks.

Hello, thank you for answering. Just for your information: Cygwin is a Linux-like environment for Windows, so that you can use nearly all Unix/Linux-commands in a Bash Shell under Windows. Cheers Alex

Re: LVPrcSrv.exe uses 99% CPU

@Cygwin - That's probably why LvPrcSrv.exe is giving you the error.

Thanks.

Re: LVPrcSrv.exe uses 99% CPU

I found this thread by searching for LVPrcSrv.exe after a nasty system hang.

I'm afraid there is some confusion, KachiWachi, Cygwin is a fairly well-behaved DLL that has no dependencies on anything associated with the Logitech device. Barring some debugger output that says otherwise, it seems Cygwin itself is innocent.

I also had LVPrcSrv's CPU usage spike and was able to recreate it by first briefly spiking CPU and disk usage with another process. What could this service be doing that it acts up during a long "find" command or a large build (e.g. an apache module)?

Do the Logitech folks ever read these forum posts and reply?

I wasn't inferring that Cygwin was the problem.

Please see this thread...and pay particular attention to what Sr. Software Engineer geepers has to say about LVPrcSrv.exe.

As to your question, Logitech does post here on occasion, but it is not their intent to do so on a regular basis (since this is the Users Discussion Forum).

Thanks.

Edit - Fix typo.
