Logitech C920 on Windows Vista - Black screen

[ Edited ]

Hi everyone! I'm italian and just yesterday I bought a new awesome Logitech WebCam, the C920. First everything was fine, but later the software began to give me problems with the black screen, could you help me please?

EDIT: I discover that the problem is the 2.0 USB, with the 3.0 the cam works... why?

Re: Logitech C920 on Windows Vista - Black screen

Hi Karum,

This could be an issue with the USB 2.0 drivers, please make sure you have the latest driver installed on your PC. Also, try a different USB port and see if it makes any difference.

Thanks,

Thanks for the answer. How can I resolve the problem with the USB 2.0? On the other USB the cam seems to work.

Re: Logitech C920 on Windows Vista - Black screen

I found the problem and corrected it myself and then call Logitech customer service so that they knew the correct questions to ask the next customer with this problem

Questions:

1) Do you have your C920 plug directly into computer USB port?  If you are using an extension cord you may need an extension that comes with an amplifier to guarantee you are getting the minimum USB 2.0 signal strength

2) Does Windows update history show that windows has updated your Vista computer with three files that are need for the Logitech C920?  Open control panel and go to windows update and then history. NOTE:  Windows update will fail if the camera is not plugged in directly to computer or if you don't have the proper signal strength because you are using an extension for the USB cable.
