Tell you seems like the last two products I have bought that say they are
compatible for windows 8 and do not work. So hoping someone has a work
around here for this. Hate sending this back seems to be a nice webcam the
resolution looks good if I could only take a picture.
I tried taking pictures with the all the resolution, no go!
small - 360p
medium - 480p
large - 720p
max - 1080p
Also tried ever compatibility mode win98, winxp, win vista both packs. Tried running in the
degrade resolutionmode of 640x480 screen resolution, reduced color mode. I have already
made sure the Privilege level is checked " Run this program as an administrator". Have run
out of ideas to make this webcam take pictures!
Performed the suggest unloaded & reloaded then performed the clean reboot, no go!
Hoping someone has some suggestions, dell told me to start a return or call Logitech.
So I am trying here first, seems to be the most effective in the past. Below is the link and
pasted the instructions suggested that still is not working for me. The video works good
is recording fine. Again my issue is only with trying to capture pictures fails everytime.

How do I perform a clean install of Logitech camera software for Windows?
You may need to perform a clean install of the Logitech camera software if it didn't install properly or a another program in memory is conflicting with it. Removing the camera software and reinstalling it using a clean boot procedure may resolve the symptoms you are experiencing.
The following instructions will walk you through this process:
Unplug the camera from the computer. Later you will be prompted by the software to plug in the camera; do so at that time only.
Open the Windows Control Panel.
Open the Add / Remove Programs window.
Locate the listing for the Logitech camera software and remove it. When prompted to remove the camera drivers files, click Yes.
Locate any other camera software and remove it as well. (Other camera software may interfere with the Logitech camera software).
Go to the Logitech Downloads Page and select your product to download the correct version of the Logitech camera software.
Please see Knowledge Base article 228 for the clean boot procedures.
NOTE: For Windows 2000, please see Knowledge Base article 229.
Doubleclick the icon for the Logitech camera software download file.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
Use the instructions located in Knowledge Base article 228 to enter MS Configuration window.
Place checkmarks in the items that you previously removed them from.
Click OK and allow the computer to reboot.
Test the Logitech camera software to ensure your original issue has been resolved. If it has not, please Email Us to contact our technical support staff.

To better assist you, it would help a lot if you tell me if you are getting an error message when you try to take pictures with your C920. And if it is showing with a yellow exclamation mark or a red cross on the Device Manager.
I hope we can figure this out soon azbobs, I'm looking forward to your reply.

A: After the count down it says in the same location as the count down says
"Capture Failed " I made sure I am on a 2.0usb port. even swithced to another
2. usb port. I tried this on windows 7 as well and cannot take pictures at all.
Q: showing with a yellow exclamation mark or a red cross on the Device Manager.
A: No errors or yellow exclamation marks or red cross showing in the device manager.
I checked in device manager under Imaging devices shows
HP Pro webcam C920 when checking the status in properties shows
" This device is working properly."
The video is working fine. Also why did they remove the video effects from the software lws280.exe?
So only the lws240.exe has the software. One of the big reason`s I purchased this webcam was for the video effects software and now I can't even take pictures. I am very unhappy with my purchase and have been a customer for sometime.
Please help look forward to hearing back I hate to send this back to Dell.

Here's something strange when in skype I can take my profile picture using skypes software. I have tried unchecking every feature in logitech`s software in hopes this will take a picture still no go!
