A Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is on it's way to me. The connecting USB cable will be too short so I will need a USB extension cable. Just for the cam to be usable I will need two more feet. I'd also like to make a run of 20 or more feet with NO degredation of picture quality, frame rate, and insignificant increase in noise pick-up (good shielding).
What's the best cable to use (specs or brand name) and the cheapest source for a very high quality cable?
Thanks,
Alan77

Because USB is digital, either you are going to get it working at your extension distance or you won't. The quality will be the same either way for webcam applications if you are able to reach usb 2.0 speeds with the extension.
With that said, belkin makes good quality USB extensions at a reasonable price. Just do a search on amazon for "belkin usb extension" I think if you need 20 feet you'll start having to use the active extensions to boost the signal. Belkin makes one at 16 feet which paired with your webcam cable might be long enough for your purposes.
There are also lots of cheap extensions out there that might work also. It's up to you if it's worth saving a few bucks with possible additional hassle if it is poor quality or what not.

I am trying to use the HD Pro Webcam C910 camera with an USB/Ethernet extension system, but the camera doesn't seem to work using this system. An advice as to how to make that work? I am running the camera to another room than where the computer is, and the distance requires an extension. We opted for a USB to Ethernet extension because they have worked fine for most USB devices in the past. Does this camera not work with this type of extension?
Thank you.
