I installed the software on March 5. I am able to record video.
I have tried to trouble shoot the mic by going the the help center in the program under troubleshooting and FAQ's -- microphone troubleshooting and doing the steps in Test the device. please see red below
Verify that Logitech Mic is listed as the Sound recording Default device.
Do one of the following:
If Logitech Mic is not listed as the Sound recording Default device, select it, click Apply, and then retest the recorder.
If Logitech Mic is not an item in the Sound recording Default device drop down list, reinstall QuickCam®.
I followed these directions on 3 seperate installs and was not able to get Logitech Mic to appear in the drop down.
MY mic has sound but it very faint and has a lot of background sound that is coming from the machine.....it is mic sound when the vol is too big...but my setting are normal and if I turn the vol down then my already faint voice goes away
please advise me what to do.

Hello Pooky,
I would suggest uninstalling the Logitech Quickcam software and reinstall in a Clean Boot mode.
You can download Quickcam 11.8 from here:
If that doesn't fix the problem please post the Model number (M/N) from the webcam. Which should be located on the tab on the USB cable.
Kind Regards,
