Recently purchased Logitech c170 webcam

Installed software, on my computer windows 7, 64-bit acer aspire 5738/5338 series

Go into quick capture, when i press the button to take the photo, first of all there is no image that appears and secondly when i press the capture button it does then countdown (3,2,1..) then says "capture failed"...also no light appeared on the webcam

Also, on skype, the webcam does not work at all, the microphone works fine.

At first, i thought the camera was faulty, so returned it an replaced it with the same product but still same thing occured, no image at all, no light, nothing! just black. 

I uninstalled all the software and drivers, reinstalled it, uninstalled it again, did a clean boot installation with again no success. ALSO, the camera works on my other laptops in my house, just not my one in particular so I figured there is something wrong with my laptop. PLEASE HELP! Does anybody know what is wrong but most importantly how to fix this issue it's been bugging me for days now and I would love to resolve this issue!!

Hello belle11,

Does the computer that you are experiencing the issue with have a built in web camera? If it does you may need to manually disable it. You could also check and update the drivers using the guide in the link provided below.

Yes it does have an in-built webcam but almost a year ago, it stopped working, i would click onto the software and it would come up with "camera not found" and on skype or any other program/website that needed webcam, it couldn't detect any webcam, i figured something was wrong with the driver or something but i had no idea on how to fix it, so i just uninstalled all of the crystal eye webcam software and the drivers weren't there and so i just decided to buy a usb webcam instead.

I clicked onto the link you provided, and followed the instructions however, when i went into 'Device Manager' under "Imaging devices" i do not have "USB Video Device" ... under "Sounds video and game controllers" i do not have "USB  Audio Device" and also under "Universal serial bus controllers" I do not have "USB Composite Device"

Could this be linked to why my camera is not working?

Hello belle11,

From your description it seems that you may have missing or corrupted Windows USB drivers. I suggest doing a Windows repair or reinstalling of Windows as recommended by the laptop manufacturer.
