I have had my Webcam Pro 9000 on my Mac mini for a couple of months and every few times I try to use it the mic portion of the webcam does not work at all, so the other person cannot hear me. It stops working with Skype, AIM, and anything on the mac. I have numberous times checked the Mac settings but it is always set to the USB Mic, however it is not receiving any sound (blue bar is not moving). On a rare occasion it starts to work when I unplug it and replug it in, however mostly I cannot get it working until a few hours or days later. I have the latest OSX Leopard. I have tried using this camera on other mac's and it does the same. Is this a common problem? It makes me want to return it and buy a cheap one for $20 that just works.

1) What is the 860-xxxxxx (or 8xxxxx) series number from the camera's identification tag (FAQ #3427), or preferably... the USB\VID ID?
2) Is the camera being plugged directly into the Mac's USB port?
Thanks.

The camera is directly into the USB's at the back, I have tried all of them, and an extension just to see if it would work better.

I have finally got around to trying on a PC, I could not recreate the problems (in a hour or so). Sometime it works fine in my Mac for days as well. One note here, the other day I was using it with Skype and I checked that the mic was not working, when I unplugged it and re-plugged it in, the person at the other end said they could hear me, but it sounded like high pitched squeeking, not like real talking. Not sure if that helps at all.
Have you discovered this problem from anyone else aside from the other guy that responded? Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply, when the mic stops working, it is unavailable to the entire mac, so quicktime cannot record me, the little blue indicator does not move up and down on the sound setting thing.
We have come to the point that before we start a conversation we check that the mic is functioning in the settings window. It is so sporatic that I have not figured out what could be triggering it.
