New driver (QuickCam Software Version 11) Problems

[ Edited ]
A new version of QuickCam Software version 11 was released. Just installed it and got 2 problems:

1. Go to "Event Viewer", select "Application", there are 2 warnings from MsiInstaller, here're the contents of the 2 warnings I got:

Detection of product '{AC0EE5B0-A8FB-4D0A-AF03-2EDC518F841B}', feature 'SoleFeature' failed during request for component '{3E97692A-C113-4135-96B7-39865124B03C}'

Detection of product '{AC0EE5B0-A8FB-4D0A-AF03-2EDC518F841B}', feature 'SoleFeature', component '{B77FA112-C0BB-4741-ADF2-88E9FBC89224}' failed. The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\' does not exist.

2. Go to QuickCam setting, the "Pan and Tilt" and "Face Tracking" are grey out. I can't change them.

BTW, my webcam is Orbit MP, OS is XP Pro w/ SP2. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

UPDATE1:

Problem 2 is resolved. According to readme.doc, "The QuickCam Orbit/Sphere MP mechanical pan and tilt and face tracking is not supported above 640 x 480." After I set the resolution back to 640*480, the grey out problem gone.

Welcome to the Logitech Community Webcam Forum BruceX! :smileyhappy:

The Event Viewer stuff looks to be the same thing that was happening with QuickCam 10.x.

Have you tried reinstalling "clean"?

Thanks.

Yes, I did a clean installation (Uninstalled the version 10 first, reboot, then installed version 11).

Re: New driver (QuickCam Software Version 11) Problems

Check the link again (I just updated it).

As to the Event Viewer...I should say *similar*...since these errors refer to 'SoleFeature' (whatever this is...a new feature perhaps?).

Thanks.

Re: New driver (QuickCam Software Version 11) Problems

[ Edited ]
Thank you very much, Kachiwachi. Finally the problem 2 is resolved. From the readme.doc:

The QuickCam Orbit/Sphere MP mechanical pan and tilt and face tracking is not supported above 640 x 480.

I set the resolution at 1.3 MegaPixel before. That's the reasion why pan and tilt and face tracking don't work. Once switch to VGA resolution, the problem's resolved.

The 2 warning messages are still there. I'll do the cleanup tool trick later.

Ah @Item #2 (key information missing from your initial post). :smileywink:

Please report back on the Event Viewer stuff when you can.

Thanks.

Re: New driver (QuickCam Software Version 11) Problems

Also, at the part about the clean install, simply uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling, that's not considered a clean install. A clean install is where all active programs are disabled, before you actually reinstall the software. This would be accomplished by going into the msconfig utility, and disabling all startup items. There are detailed instructions, document 620 refers to installing the camera software under a clean boot. I would recommend reading that document, and following the instructions.

Yup @bluja000.

I mention that FAQ (and others) in my "clean" install post.

Thanks.
