Orbit MP with Windows 7 64-bit

I've beein using Vista 64 bit for a long time with my Orbit MP.  I installed Windows 7 64 bit.  Windows recognized the Orbit MP.  I wanted the added controls of Logitech software (color control, face tracking, pan, tilt, zoom).  Downloaded latest version of software for my model but it wouldn't install on Windows 7.  Downloaded LWS with Vid 1.0 (designed for the Orbit AF) - that installed fine.  However, I don't have the controls for my camera.  I need face tracking, color controls, pan, tilt, zoom.  How can I re-enable these features?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Tom

Welcome to the Logitech Community Webcam Forum TallTomD! :smileyhappy:

What is the 8xxxxx (or 860-xxxxxx) series number from the camera's identification tag (FAQ #3427), or preferably... the USB\VID ID?

Thanks.

Re: Orbit MP with Windows 7 64-bit

Logitech's attitude regarding Orbit MP #861207-B000 Is Wretched. Horrible.

I can't tell you exactly how angry I am at these issues. I Won't ever again purchase a Logitech Product ever because of this. I will reccomend to my friends and customers MIcrosoft and creative Products. Again Lo:smileymad:gitech is wretched.:smileymad:

Re: Orbit MP with Windows 7 64-bit

Hello, and thanks for trying to help.  My USB\VID ID is:  046D&PID_08C2&REV_0005&MI_00

I've got the Vid 1.1 software installed so the camera is recognized, but I really want the facetracking along with pan, tilt, and zoom features back on my camera.  I paid a LOT extra for those features.

Thanks,

Tom

I looked through the other post you linked to, but I'm not sure I understand the relevance.

Can we get PTZ working with Windows 7 x64?

Re: Orbit MP with Windows 7 64-bit

So, basically, Logitech is telling me to go pound sand.  If other third party developers can release free open source drivers and tools that work properly with this hardware under Windows 7 then it is clearly possible.  But Logitech is just too lazy or simply doesn't care enough to support the customers that spent a large amount of money on a PTZ camera.  So Logitech doesn't want me to be a customer any more.  So Logitech is telling me, "Never buy our products, because we won't support them, and you'll be stuck with an expensive paper weight soon."

Hmmm...I work in IT.  I've suggested their stuff in the past, but never again.  I've got friends, relatives, and co-workers that all come to me for advice on technology purchases.  Unless Logitech resolves this problem they will be on the "DON'T buy" list.  Microsoft makes really good keyboards and mice.  Their webcams are good too.  They always work, and I know they'll update the drivers for any new OS.  In most cases they don't even need drivers.

Logitech REALLY needs to think about this response.  It would take them less than a week to get these drivers working on Windows 7.  Is it worth it to lose so many customers?  Think about it...  :smileysurprised:
