Privacy screen not working: Logitech c910 on Windows 7, 64-bit

I have a Logitech c910 webcam and was using it on an old computer with Windows XP. That computer crashed, so now I'm using a new computer with Windows 7, 64-bit.  On Windows XP the privacy screen worked but it no longer works on Windows 7. The option is there (the square button with the "shade" icon) but when I push that button nothing happens. When I double-click on a picture to use for the privacy shade, still nothing happens. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice now, once with the help of phone support.

When that did not work, the person on phone support first put me on hold for 15 minutes and then hung up on me. He was supposed to be asking someone about the software. I called back and got someone else who wouldn't let me talk to the first person again. She told me to do the same things, basically treated me like an idiot, then put me on hold a few times to "double check something." SHE ALSO hung up on me after about five minutes on hold. I wasn't rude to them or anything. They didn't have a solution so they just hung up on me.

I NEED to have this option availble on my webcam. I need it for my business and the privacy screen is an essential part of that. There is no tag attached to the webcam. Not sure if there ever was one.

Can someone please tell me if this is just a problem with the updated software, or if it's a problem with Windows 7, 64-bit compatibility? How can I fix it? Thanks.

What is the 860-xxxxxx (or 8xxxxx) series number from the camera's identification tag (FAQ #3427), or preferably, its USB\VID ID?

Thanks.

Re: Privacy screen not working: Logitech c910 on Windows 7, 64-bit

The number is 860-000266

Also, in response to the other person who asked about using their pictures on the privacy screen. When mine was still working, I just did a drag-and-drop from the file to the blank box (look where all the pre-set pictures are next to the privacy screen icon, there's an empty box there where you can put your own picture). When I dragged a picture into that box, I was then able to select that picture to use for my privacy screen. This is exactly what I need to do and why I need to have the privacy screen.

Re: Privacy screen not working: Logitech c910 on Windows 7, 64-bit

Does this issue occur when the Logitech Webcam Software (LWS) 2.10.1224 (a.k.a. QuickCam 13.10.1224) is installed?

Thanks.

Re: Privacy screen not working: Logitech c910 on Windows 7, 64-bit

I don't recognize any of the numbers you provided. I can tell you the steps I took to download the software and the file name that the tech person had me choose. But the numbers you gave me (Logitech Webcam Software (LWS) 2.10.1224 (a.k.a. QuickCam 13.10.1224) ) I can't find on the website or on the disc that came with the cam.

I went to ftp.logitech.com, pub, tech support, quickcam, then chose file lws210_full.exe

That did not restore the privacy screen. Then we uninstalled that and tried reloading it from the disc that came with the cam. That's called v2.0.

I hope some of that information is useful. We think that it's probably that the new version of the software isn't quite meshing with Windows 7, 64-bit in some areas yet and that maybe they'll fix it on the next software update. The problem is that we really do need the privacy screen for work. Right now we just have to put a piece of paper over it, and that doesn't look good.

Is there a patch we could download or something?
