[ Edited ]
Hey all!

For this release of QuickCam, I want to make this floated thread to keep track of all the issues... and solutions.

Please do not post here.

This thread should be maintained by the Forum Administrators, Community Moderator pedroc, the Support Specialists, and myself... so that there is a common place to find information for this version of QuickCam.

Discussions on each issue will have their own threads... as created by you.

I envision it to be a multi-post thread with reference links only, but we'll see how it evolves once the software is released.

Only confirmed issues (three or more instances) with the following Software packages will be posted here.

  • QuickCam 11.0.0.1218
  • QuickCam 11.1.0.2030
  • QuickCam 11.5.0.1169
  • QuickCam 11.7.0.1200
  • QuickCam 11.8.0.1065
  • QuickCam 11.9.0.1263

If you are new to the forum, please start your own thread for all troubleshooting related issues.

ALL INQUIRIES SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:

1) What is the 8xxxxx (or 860-xxxxxx) series number from the camera tag (FAQ #3427), or preferably... the USB\VID ID?

2) Which version of the Logitech supplied QuickCam software application/drivers is installed (FAQ #5105)?

3) What Operating System (OS) is installed?

4) Does this issue occur when you use the camera in the Logitech supplied QuickCam software application, or only in your third-party Instant Messenger program?

If your issue is Vista or MacOS related, please put (Vista) or (MacOS) at the end of your Message Subject.

Please post ALL ISSUES that occur in a third-party Instant Messenger program to the Video Chat Applications and Services forum.

Thanks.

Re: QuickCam 11.9.0.1263 - Issues and Solutions

[ Edited ]
The Release Notes can be found in FAQ #6797.

  • QuickCam 11.9 will only be available through the Logitech Updater (LU) for users with a previous QuickCam release installed.

Comment by Sr. Software Engineer geepers -

"The driver install is designed to add new versions on top of older versions, and remove all of them at once when the drivers are uninstalled. This behavior is to allow software upgrades even if camera support is removed in newer versions. However, this was not realized in QuickCam 11.8 and earlier as some driver features (like Face Tracking) where not installed through driver INFs. As the newer versions required these non-driver INF packages to be removed, this prevents those features from working when using older driver versions. (On a side note, this is one big reason Logitech Update is used to distribute upgrades today, as LU can intelligently decide what appropriate version you should get with your specific connected camera.) Starting in QuickCam 11.9, Face Tracking and Noise Suppression features are fully integrated into driver packages (installed via the driver INF) so that now if cameras supported in 11.9 are no longer supported in a newer versions, users might still be able to use the newer software to get bug fixes."

Cameras supported in this release (per the INF) -

No changes.
