This camera used to work on this machine (just a few days ago). After plugging in a second camera (QC Communicate STX) one day, the E 2500 no longer works (I don't remember what set of steps I may have gone through after plugging in the STX). I tried to rollback with System Restore, but there were not enough "steps" saved to find my original configuration.
I followed the Logitech website instructions for uninstall and clean-boot (without services, etc.) and used the package recommended in the camera/software matrix: lws110.exe (version 1.10.1113.0), but the camera is not recognized after install.
I tried the same procedure with the original QuickCam v11.7 disk that came with the E 2500 camera, trying both with and without webcam software install (drivers only).
This camera works fine on an older Dell GX270 running XP Pro SP3 I have on the same desk.
Error Messages
When using the drivers & software install, the camera is not recognized when I reach the "plug in camera" step.
With software install, after plugging in the camera, the microphone is recognized and a new USB device, then the camera, but a toolbar pop-up says "A problem occurred.....not configured properly...."
Opening Device Manager shows only USB Device under "Imaging Devices"
I see a Microsoft "Code 1" and a statement to "reinstall drivers."
If I try to reinstall drivers, I get Code 22 sometimes or Code 18 (can't remember, many iterations with Windows Update, old CDs and old backed up drivers).
The microphone recognized and works, but no camera.
Current configuration
Camera: P/N 860-000114, 046D-089D
Current Drivers installed: Imaging Devices/USB Device - LVUSBSta.sys - 11.70.1196.0
Current Drivers installed: USB Controllers/USB Device - usbccgp.sys - 5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413-2108)
Computer: Dell Dimension 4700
Sound Card: SB Live! 24
OS: Windows XP Pro version 2002 SP3 (OEM)
I have reviewed all posts with E 2500 looking for solutions. Any help in getting this to work again would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi KachiWachi,
I tried a lot of drivers in a lot of ways, so these logs might be a mess. I assume Last_Try includes the clean boot / no services etc. attempt I made with the 11.7 software CD. If I should uninstall/reinstall with a specific software version again for a better log, please let me know. I'm happy to do so if it will help.
I have no experience with ftp, so I just set this up as quickly as I could find something online. I hope it meets the "no cookies" requirement.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well, this is really interesting. I am working from the only administrator account and I cannot uninstall Total Recorder. The message is:
You do not have sufficient rights to change registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32".
I tried setting individual permissions on the folder (and subfolders) via regedit (maybe not doing it correctly?, but shouldn't need to, right??), but I get the same message. That sure sounds like a problem; I don't have any experience interpreting the debug info. Any suggestions? -dd
Here is the debug info:

KachiWachi,
You're a GENIUS!
TotalRecorder was the problem. It took a while for High Criteria support to get back to me. The TotalRecorder driver is protected. You need a software tool to unprotect/protect called TRDrvProtector.exe available from High Criteria. (There is apparently a way to do it from regedit, but I couldn't do it.)
I unprotected the driver and was able to uninstall TotalRecorder. Then I used the Logitech clean boot procedure and the lws110.exe installer. It asks for the Logitech CD-ROM, so I used the version 11.7 disk that came with the camera. The install completed without a hitch.
Thanks for all your help diagnosing and suggesting options. It's great to have a resource like you on this board.
