Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

Brilliant! I was able to record sound using the XP sound recorder and control the volume via master volume control, so all seems well on the audio front.

Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

Is the BSOD still occurring?

Thanks.

Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

KachiWachi--No, as is, the web cam is functioning, and I can plug/unplug the USB. With Skype, video and audio are both working.

Should I just then ignore the Logitech software and not seek driver updates from the Logitech web site?

Once again, thank you for all the help you have provided.

Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

Also, if I am unable to use the Logitech drivers or software, what impact will this have on my use of the webcam and the quality of its output? I'm entirely unfussed about losing filters, avatars, etc, but I don't really want to lose practical functionality.

Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

Earlier in this thread, aweger sez -

Yes, the first time I attempted an install (from the CD), I only installed the Logitech drivers (not the software) and still encountered the BSOD when I plugged the webcam in.

I'm sorry if my response to this post was unclear. :smileysad:

My intention was for you to install the camera this way, but then manually choose the default Windows USB Audio Device driver for the camera microphone only.

Thanks.

Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

Hello again. I used the CD to install the Logitech drivers only (not the QuickCam software), but am unable to manually edit the mic settings without plugging in the web cam (it doesn't show up in device manager when unplugged). And when I plug the webcam in, I'm once again getting the same BSOD.

Cheers / Angel

Re: QuickCam Pro BSOD on Win XP

I uninstalled all the Logitech drivers, rebooted, and did the UVC install again. After confirming that worked and no BSOD, I manually updated the video driver to the Logitech one, but kept the mic as the basic UVC driver. This worked, until I unplugged and replugged in the webcam -- BSOD again. I also did the reverse (basic UVC install, then updated the mic to Logitech drivers, but keeping the video as UVC drivers), which does not give me the BSOD, even after rebooting, unplugging, plugging back in, etc. So the issue/conflict appears to specifically be with the Logitech video driver?

Cheers / Angel
