Quickcam Communicate STX not recognized by Quickcam 10.0 camera wizard during instalation

Hi,

First some details of my PC:

Hardware: Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, 1.25 GB RAM, Belkin USB 2.0 card
Resources: Quickcam Communicate SX part no.: V-AUM 14A
OS: Windows XP Home with SP2 and most recents updates (inc. I.E. 7.0)
Current Soft version: Quickcam 10 (downloaded 21 October 2006 from Logitech website)

Problem:

I have installed the quickcam software by running the downloaded 'qc1000enu' file with camera unplugged. Before that I disabled my sophos virus protection program. Installation seemed ok until after re-booting when asked to plug-in the camera by the wizard program. I plugged the camera to my Belkin USB 2, clicked 'connect' but the wizard seems not to recognize the camera (it displays the please wait message but never does the connection). Soon after windows displays a balloon with 'Found New Hardware' message followed by 'Found Quickcam Communicate STX'. Meanwhile the wizard is still trying unsuccesfully to connect.

Re: Quickcam Communicate STX not recognized by Quickcam 10.0 camera wizard during instalation

Hi Kachi Wachi,

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

I don't know why this is happening. I had my quickcam working fine in my PC before yesterday (even after installing the new IE 7.0). Then I bought the same model for my partner and tried to install in her PC with the provided 8.4.6 software version. As it was not recognizing the camera, I updated to version 10 and tried again without success. Then, I decided to try her new camera on my PC by just changing the camera (to check whether it could be defective) and it worked. After that, I decided to uninstall and install the quickcam software in my PC as well (if it worked I would know that it was her PC with some problem). However, it did not work and I now do not have my quickcam available. It is frustating as I have spent the whole day yesterday uninstalling and installing again in the hope of having it working.

I'll try without clicking connect and come back to you. I don't think it will work though (I tried that yesterday without success).

Best regards,

Alvaro

Sounds like you have some bad software installs going on. :smileysad:

Re: Quickcam Communicate STX not recognized by Quickcam 10.0 camera wizard during instalation

Hi,

I tried again without clicking on 'connect' but nothing happened. It's funny that Windows XP opens the balloon display with 'Found Hardware. Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX' but the quickcam program cannot recognize the same device.

Perhaps I should unistall skype and Messenger before trying to install again?
