QuickCam Pro 9000
vid_046d&pid_0990&rev_0008&mi_00
Version 11.90.1263
Windows XP Professional and/or Vista Ultimate
Camera works correctly
Logitech software has installed to, and runs from: C:\windows\temp\logishrd\ and LVPrcInj01.dll causes a McAfee alert (file attempting to run from Temp folder) at each logon.
Originally installed from box CD (11.8?) and upgraded to 11.8 from support download link. Then updated to 11.90.1263 using update tool. When issue became apparent, clean installed the downloaded 11.8 and updated to 11.90. Issue still exists.
The problem occurs on both an XP Pro box and a Vista Ultimate box.
The program running from the windows/temp folder is a continual annoyance. Can the Logishrd directory be moved or is an alternative fix available?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Does your McAfee software complain about the LVPrcInj.dll that resides in the following location?
C:\Program Files\Common Files\LogiShrd\LVMVFM
Thanks.

No, it does not. It seems only concerned with the LVPrcInj01.dll loading from the windows temp directory. This alert would be issued for any program or process that attempts to start from a system/user temp directory. I believe that explorer.exe is actually responsible for the alert, but only because it is calling LVPrcInj01.dll in the temp directory.
(Edit)

Brock33 sez -
I prefer to have the LVPrcInj01.dll file located in other than a system Temp folder.
In order to perform this task, you will need to download and install QuickCam 11.5.0.1169.
Thanks.

In order to perform this task, you will need to download and install QuickCam 11.5.0.1169.
That'll work! But, am I then able to update the software without the file reappearing in the Temp folder?
(Edit)
I clean installed 11.5.0.1169 and the alert problem was solved as the C:\Windows\Temp\logishrd folder and LVPrcInj01.dll were removed. However, a program update - back to version 11.90.1236 - recreated the directory and the alert problem.
So, I must install 11.5.0.1169 and not update, or update and clear a McAfee alert at every logon.
I like to think that Logitech will realize the problem with installing a program file in a system Temp folder and move the file to a commonly utilized and recognized installation location. In addition to causing McAfee alerts (with default settings) many of us exclude Temp directories during backup and routinely delete all files from Temp directories: Hmmm, maybe that is why they are named "Temp" directories.
I'm returning to version 11.5.0.1169 and I'll wait for a future release that is better behaved. It shouldn't take too long. When the "rules" aren't followed, complaints do!
Thank you very much KachiWachi. I appreciate all your effort.

This is a major problem for anyone trying to install Microsoft's SQL Server 2008. This will fail on a "Restart Required" when the installer checks for problems.....will have to keep this in mind during other software installations. Logitech needs to address this soon.
