The thing is though, shouldn't all webcams/new webcams have the 16:9 video feature, echo/noise cancelling micrphone feature, RightSound feature, USB connection, Skype features?
I'm after a new webcam but thse two latest webcam both hav seperate featuures I want in one webcam. Is something wrong with the list?

Re: The HD Pro Webcam C920 and The HD C615 Webcam

Hello Nj17,

I see that you are looking into buying a Logitech Webcam and that you have some doubts regarding the comparison chart between the HD Pro Webcam C920 and the HD Webcam C615.

I'll be glad to clarify your concerns based on the list you posted:

  • Both of them have the 16:9 video capture in 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p.
  • Both of the webcams are corded, this means they are not wireless.
  • Both of them are connected to the computer via USB.
  • Both of them are compatible with Skype, the video quality is automatically adjusted by Skype depending on the internet connection.
  • The maximum Frame Rate for both is 30fps, the C615 at 640 x 480 and the C920 at 1080p.
  • All the Logitech Webcams come with RightSound and RightLight.
  • The C615 comes with 8MP snapshot capture and the C920 comes with 15MP snapshot capture.
  • The C615 comes with echo canceling microphone and the C920 comes with dual noise canceling microphones.
  • The C615 has only one microphone, the C920 has two.
  • The C615 is a fold and go designed webcam and the C920 is tripod ready.
  • The C615 has the universal monitor clip but the C920 design would allow you to mount it to a monitor.
  • The C920 has a Carl Zeiss lens and the C615 has a glass lens.
  • The C920 comes with ultra wide angle lenses FOV 78° and the C615 not FOV 74°.
  • The C920 comes with built-in H.264 encoding.

Both of these webcams are really good and if you wish to get more precise information about them you could check the C615 Technical Specifications and the C920 Technical Specifications.

I hope that you find this information useful Nj17, and that you find the Logitech Webcam that best fit your needs very soon.

Re: The HD Pro Webcam C920 and The HD C615 Webcam

From the info given I mistakenly got the impression that the C615 has no tripod option, but I found out that luckily it does:

"It also includes a standard tripod mount, allowing you to pair it with a standard tripod or a Gorillapod and literally mount it anywhere."

I just ordered this webcam and look forward to recieving and using it. : )

Re: The HD Pro Webcam C920 and The HD C615 Webcam

Hello there,
Want to buy a webcam for my Laptop. Please let me know which one is best out of the two - HD Webcam C615, HD Pro Webcam C920 for Skype use.
I bought a webcam from Genius (F100) returned them as they are not holding firm on my laptop screen, falling down whenever I move my screen for any adjustment. Logitech cams also designed in the same fashion? There is no clip or grip which can hold the camera firmly on my laptop screen? Thanks to reply as I'm waiting for you to buy.

Re: The HD Pro Webcam C920 and The HD C615 Webcam

[ Edited ]

These posts that are just about the technical specs aren't very helpful.

The C920 has better video quality.  The C615 in some ways has better technical "specs", but this is a good example of how specs can be misleading.  The C615 is a decent webcam, and if you're just doing Skype, you probably wouldn't notice the difference because the video is compressed a lot anyway.  But if you're recording video, and you don't mind paying slightly more, the C920 has better video quality, it's much crisper with a better framerate.  However, the C615 has better sound quality, if that's a concern (may not be if your computer has another microphone).

Here's a great comparison (be sure to set the Youtube video to 1080p so you can see the video in high quality!)...
