(edit: formatted the message so it's readable.. not sure how it became a big blob of text orginally!)
Hi, Currently, my new Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 isn't working on my 64-bit Win7 system.
M/N:V-U0009
P/N:860-000210
PID: LZ016SM
Upon initial installation, it worked for a couple days, then when using Skype, the video would cut out randomly (though the audio connection was still in place undisturbed). After that, the system would stop detecting a USB device (heard by the sound the OS makes). When I shutdown/restart the next day, it used to be back like usual (because I'd randomly hear a USB uninstall again). I didn't use the camera much so I didn't pay much attention to it as everything I needed was working at the time. Went to fire up the camera and lost the USB connection to it again while I was in the Skype application. I reckoned it was time to redownload/install drivers from the Logitech site.
Downloaded/installed the LWS2.10 software. After replugging the USB port in, the installation software was able to see/detect the webcam. However, after the installation while playing around checking out the chat mask stuff Logitech includes, I lost the webcam again and now I'm unable to get it back even after trying various USB ports, rebooting, and reinstallation of the LWS2.10 software.
Combing through the threads here, I saw the post where KachiWachi requests someone to check their registry. I've done that and all things requested in the two registry areas are present:
----------- These steps completed successfully ------------------
1) Click Start -> Run... -> Open: -> Type regedit, then click OK.
You can also access the Run command by pressing the Windows logo key ( ) and the "R" key simultaneously. (Ref: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-h
2) Open the following registry key by clicking the ( + ) signs: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro
3) Search for {4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
4) Click on the folder icon this time... not on the ( + ) sign.
5) Please let me know if the following entries are present: (Default) --- REG_SZ --- Sound, video and game controllers UpperFilters --- REG_MULTI_SZ --- ksthunk
6) Return to step 2.
7) Search for {6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}
8) Please let me know if the following entries are present: (Default) --- REG_SZ --- Imaging devices UpperFilters --- REG_MULTI_SZ --- ksthunk
9) Close the Registry Editor.
--------------------------- Completed - Entries ARE present in the registry. -----------------------------------
I do not have Avnex Virtual Audio Device installed on the computer.
I have no second PC to attempt use of the camera on to attempt to replicate the spotty USB connectivity.
I don't use the Logitech video/chat software. I occasionally use Skype which is when I'd use the webcam.
I have SageTV installed on the PC (though it isn't running when I attempted to reinstall things), and I've also got a Hauppauge WinTV 450 card on the machine, but through the course of troubleshooting the issue, I've disabled it in the Device Manager (and it is still currently disabled) without any change in status.
Currently the LWS2.10 cannot detect the camera. Any suggestions?
Hopefully we can get this problem licked.
Cheers!

Does this issue occur when the camera is installed in UVC Mode?
Thanks.

Thanks for the response!
Installing in UVC mode works. The device is recognized and drivers installed successfully.
Should I just continue using it without using the LWS?

Hi again,
Back after a couple of days to do the clean installation and then test around it a bit.
A clean installation and rebooting (after re-enabling startup items) sees the camera detected and usable by the LWS. However, when doing anything other than letting the camera run in the capture mode (in the LWS), the camera will drop within 60-120 seconds. For example, if I'm using the effects (shark, crown, nose, etc), the camera will drop (actually the USB connection will drop) and most of the time I can hit the 'reconnect' button and the system will be able to recover.
However, I just lost the camera again by simply trying to resize the LWS capture window, and this time the reconnect button won't help because the system cannot recognize the USB device.
So to sum up, my current status is I am getting use of the camera unless I'm asking the system to do something with it (resize window, use an effect). (and right now I'll need to either reboot or uninstall/reboot clean/reinstall)

2) Are any other USB devices currently installed/attached to your PC?
Thanks.

I have plugged it directly into the PC and also used a (externally-powered) USB hub with the same results.
When doing the testing, the only active USB connections other than the camera is the powered USB hub and my android phone which I tether for internet connectivity.
After having done more testing, the problem seems to lie primarily when I'm using the effects in the LWS. I just had a 30 minute skype conversation without issue, then after that completed went over to the LWS to see if I could get the camera to disconnect merely by firing up the LWS software than letting the software show me with the effects turned on. With the little nose thing or the crown, the camera disconnected (but was reconnectable.. meaning I could hit the 'reconnect' button) and was able to continue.
Using the effect where my picture shows as a shark or cat and after 2 or 3 minutes of letting it sit there, I lost the camera again and got the "unrecognized USB device" box in Win7.
