Webcam Pro 9000 and Windows 8

[ Edited ]

I just tried to install LSW251 from the support page for the Webcam Pro 9000. It still only has Windows 7 in the dropdown. It states in the What's New section in the webpage, "Windows 8 support has been added."

But I received an error while trying to install the software stating that it is incapatable. Is there going to be an updated version for Windows 8 or should I install the software in  compatibility mode?

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 and Windows 8

Hello, I am experiencing the same issue. I just received and tried to install drivers for my new Webcam Pro 9000. I am running windows 8 Enterprise. The CD produced an error saying my OS was not supported. Although the Webcam Pro 9000 is listed on the list of webcams supported on Windows 8, when I go to the download tab for the Pro 9000, the drop-down does not have Windows 8 listed as an option to select.

Can someone from logitech please advise? I need to know whether to return this or not.

Thanks.

I have the same problem and the same error.

When will the controller app work for this camera in Windows 8?

UPDATE:  There is a new set of software which does enable these webcams to work with Windows 8.  I've installed it and it enables the same functionality as in Win 7.  (The "mask maker" is not included.)

The Windows 8 Logitech Controller App doesn't work with this webcam yet, but you do get a tile which has the same controls as in Win 7.

Thanks to the forum person who directed me, and now you,  to the software!  They wish to remain unnamed or I'd give them a more public kudo.

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 and Windows 8

I have the new software installed on both a Windows 8 64 bit and a 32 bit system.  My Quickcam Pro 9000 and my Webcam  Pro 9000 both work just fine.

Re: Webcam Pro 9000 and Windows 8

I connected this with the other pc with windows vista. I think, earlier it lost the firmware if any and reinstalled seemlessly because when I connected back with my pc with windows 8, it started working. Is there any firmware it got?

Well, seems that Logitech is not that quick with their support :smileysad:

This original posting is is from 10-28-2012 and it's now 04-19-2013 and still the wrong download is offered, still the LWS251.exe and no Windows 8 in the dropdown.

Is the LWS280 mentioned here okay to use?

You are doing something wrong.  The option for Windows 8 is most certainly in the dropdown for both a Quickcam Pro 9000 and a Webcam Pro 9000.  With Win 8 selected, you get the LWS280 download.

Nope, not there. I am from The Netherlands and when going to Logitech site, you automatic get redirected to the countries part of Logitech, in my case Dutch language part. They did forget to update that part cause there is no Windows 8 option there :smileysad: The download still is LWS251 there. URL is http://www.logitech.com/nl-be/support/5867?crid=405&osid=23&bit=64 ... it's in Dutch but the download part explains what I mean.
