Hello,
my System:
IBM ThinkPad
Windows XP with SP2
try to install QuickCam® Messenger. Install the 10.5.1.2029 QuickCam Software but the cam was not detected.
in the device manager I only see "other devices" -> "camera".
and in "setupapi.log" I found the following entry if I try to search after drivers:
[2007/06/04 14:34:39 304.1946]
#-198 Command line processed: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe" C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc /s
#I060 Set selected driver.
#-019 Searching for hardware ID(s): usb\vid_046d&pid_08f6&rev_0100,usb\vid_046d&pid_08 f6

#-166 Device install function: DIF_SELECTBESTCOMPATDRV.
#W059 Selecting best compatible driver failed. Error 0xe0000228: There are no compatible drivers for this device.
#W157 Default installer failed. Error 0xe0000228: There are no compatible drivers for this device.

#W157 Default installer failed. Error 0xe0000228: There are no compatible drivers for this device.
I tried several possible solutions like:
- reconnect to another usb port and restart
- try to install driver manually (from QuickCam installation folder)
- reboot several times
but still the same error.
- QuickCam Software couldn't detect the camera
- Windows Device Manager couldn't find the correct driver for that model.
Please could you support me with this issue ?
with best regards

Hello KachiWachi,
tried it with your solution -> problem solved!
But get this software not from your (logi) website, maybe logi should extend the download offer to "older versions"
Thank you very much for your "lightspeed" answer!
bestr regards

Logitech just updated the site last week...and they haven't finished yet.
Thanks.
